WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES THE PLAN, WE GROW ANYWAY!

Rainy weather may have moved our farming activity indoors, but it certainly didn’t stop us from learning, planting, and having fun! 💚

Today, our Taiwanese students under the Cultural Immersion Program were supposed to experience hands-on farming at the LPU Community Farm. However, due to the unfavorable weather conditions, we brought the farming experience indoors instead! 🌧️

Each student was given a small pot and a flowering plant seed to plant and care for. With the warm guidance and assistance of our Kababaihan ni Maria Makiling, they enjoyed learning the basics of planting while experiencing the joy of nurturing a plant from seed to growth. 🌸🪴

🎯 Objective of the Activity:
To provide the students with a meaningful hands-on experience in planting, environmental awareness, and sustainable agriculture, while fostering cultural exchange, appreciation for local farming practices, and connection with the community, even when activities need to be adapted to changing weather conditions.

More than just planting a seed, today’s activity planted knowledge, friendship, cultural understanding, and a deeper appreciation for the people who nurture our community and our environment.

A big thank you to our Kababaihan ni Maria Makiling for sharing their knowledge, time, and passion for farming with our visiting students. 🇵🇭🤝🇹🇼

From the farm to indoors, the learning continues! 🌱✨

Growing Together Through Culture and Sustainability!

Today, we successfully welcomed the second batch of our Taiwanese students to the LPU - Brgy Makiling Community Harvest Hub, where they experienced another meaningful day of learning and cultural exchange as part of the Advanced English with Cultural Heritage Program of the LPU-Laguna Center for Global Engagement.

Together with our hardworking Kababaihan ni Maria Makiling, and with the invaluable guidance and support of Konsehal Ogie De Chavez, our visiting Taiwanese students explored sustainable farming and gardening practices while gaining a deeper appreciation of Filipino culture, community, and environmental stewardship.

Blessed with beautiful sunny weather, the students had the opportunity to experience firsthand how Filipinos plant crops. They enthusiastically participated in hands-on farming activities, learned practical gardening techniques from the Kababaihan, exchanged ideas, and discovered how sustainability begins with simple actions rooted in community collaboration. It was a day filled with learning, teamwork, cultural appreciation, and unforgettable experiences in the farm.

A heartfelt thank you to the Kababaihan ni Maria Makiling for warmly sharing your time, knowledge, and passion for sustainable agriculture, and to Konsehal Ogie De Chavez for your continued guidance and support in empowering our community initiatives.

Together, we continue to cultivate not only gardens but also friendships, cultural understanding, and a shared commitment to a more sustainable future. 💚🌿

As part of their Advanced English with Cultural Heritage Program, our 16 visiting Taiwanese students, in collaboration with the LPU-Laguna Center for Global Engagement, spent a meaningful day learning about gardening and sustainable farming practices with the Kababaihan ni Maria Makiling.

Although the rainy weather prevented the group from visiting the farm and planting, the experience remained enriching as the students learned about gardening and applied indoor gardening techniques, exchanged ideas, and immersed themselves in Filipino culture and community traditions. The activity highlighted that meaningful learning and cultural exchange can flourish even when plans change.

Thank you to the Kababaihan ni Maria Makiling for warmly sharing their knowledge and inspiring our students with their passion for sustainability and community development. Together, we continue to grow friendships and global understanding—rain or shine. 💚🌿
