After more than a century of navigating the highways of the Philippines, Philtranco Service Enterprises, Inc., the nation’s oldest bus company, has officially announced it will conclude all operations on March 30, 2026.

In a somber memorandum addressed to employees, President and CEO Michael M. Sabban cited "serious business losses" as the primary driver behind this difficult decision. The notice expressed deep regret, stating that despite efforts to sustain the business, the company is no longer in a position to maintain payroll or operations.

A Century-Long Legacy

Founded in 1914 as the ALATCO (Albert Louis Ammen Transportation Company), Philtranco paved the way for the modern transport industry in the Philippines. For 112 years, it served as a vital link between Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, becoming a household name synonymous with the "Strong Republic Nautical Highway."

The closure marks the end of a historic journey for a brand that survived world wars, economic shifts, and the evolving landscape of public travel.

The announcement specifically honored the workforce that kept the wheels turning for decades:
