What does home taste like when it's made with hope?
Before Labor Day ends, we would like to share the story of our father, who has spent years working as a driver, waking up as early as 3 AM every day to keep our family afloat.
But today, he carries a weight no amount of hard work prepared him for.
Last November, while on duty, he was involved in a vehicular accident. By grace, no one was injured. But one vehicle bore heavy damage: β±196,000 worth.
Despite this happening during work hours, the support we hoped for never came. A large portion of the financial burden fell on him, even though he only earns around β±3,500 to β±5,000 per cut-off.
Because we were not able to settle the amount immediately, the situation escalated into a legal case. As of now, the total amount for damages and legal expenses has reached approximately β±250,000, which we are now trying our best to raise.
This amount is far beyond what we can afford, especially since after the incident, our father suffered a stroke and has since been unable to return to work. Due to his condition and the status of his license, he has also not been accepted in job applications.
Because of this, we are offering our motherβs well-loved homemade delicacy,

In every tub of laing is the warmth of coconut milk simmered slow, the care of hands that have cooked this recipe for almost a thousand times, and the hope of our family for a chance to stand again.
Our father worked with his hands. Our mother cooks with hers. And now, we offer you the rich, creamy taste of home, made with nothing but honest ingredients and quiet resilience.
This Labor Day, let good food meet good cause. Maraming Salamat po! π€
