If you're new here, welcome to The Good Soil Provisions—where we raise pigs with the goal of producing better pork, naturally.
For those wondering why we stopped producing our bacon and pork tapa, here's the backstory.
During the second half of 2025, our 7 breeding sows didn't farrow at all. 😅
Our running joke back then was, "Naghihintay sa wala." We kept thinking they were pregnant... only to find out they weren't.
Looking back, we now see that it was one of God's answers to our prayer.
At that time, we were praying about whether we should pursue lechon and cochinillo for the Christmas season. We simply asked God, "If this isn't Your will, please close the door."
Well... He did.
No pregnancies. No piglets. Door closed.
But after the holidays, everything changed.
One after another, our sows started farrowing. We went from zero piglets to more than 60, with a very low mortality rate. Looking back, we also realized we probably weren't ready for a holiday launch. The runway was too short, and God's timing turned out to be better than ours.
The only problem? Our old pig facilities could no longer accommodate them.
So we built this.
This is our new free-range pig area, where our hogs have room to roam, root, and simply be pigs. Together with a carefully managed feeding program that includes fermented greens, we're aiming to raise healthier animals that produce better pork—with improved fat distribution and the beautiful marbling Berkshire pigs are known for.
We did have to clear part of the land to build this, but our hope is that, through rotational grazing and natural fertilization, the pigs will eventually help regenerate the soil and make this area healthier than before.
This has always been our vision: not just to raise pigs, but to steward the land well and produce food we would be proud to serve our own family.
Sometimes God answers our prayers by saying, "Not yet." And sometimes, when the timing is right, He blesses us more abundantly than we imagined.
We're excited for what's ahead, and we can't wait to bring our bacon, pork tapa, and other handcrafted pork products back to your table.
