It is Christ our Shepherd who seeks lost sinners.
In truth, He has sought man from the beginning, way back in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:9-13)
“The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10). Why? Because “there is NO ONE who seeks after God.’”(Romans 3:11b; also Psalms 14:2-3)
When an unbeliever is becoming spiritually responsive, we can be sure that s/he is being sought BY God, that He is stirring their heart with desire, that He is drawing them to Himself… for no one can come to Him any other way. (John 6:44; 12:32)
God as seeker, as the One Who takes the initiative, is one of many comforting biblical truths that
demonstrates that God is sovereign, and not man; it also clearly shows us His great mercy, since we cannot come to Christ and His salvation apart from His seeking.
