CHECKPOINT BREACH UNCOVERS P20.8-M SUSPECTED SMUGGLED CI******ES; PNP ARRESTS 3

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., intercepted millions of pesos worth of suspected smuggled ci******es and arrested three individuals during a border control checkpoint operation on July 11, 2026, at the Regional Border Control Point in Brgy. Kibungsod, Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental.

The operation was carried out by personnel of the 1001st Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10; 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company; Magsaysay Municipal Police Station, Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office; and the Regional Intelligence Division 10. While conducting checkpoint operations, the team flagged down a cargo truck for inspection. Instead of stopping, the driver deliberately breached the checkpoint and fled, prompting an immediate pursuit by the operating personnel.

The vehicle was eventually intercepted, where authorities discovered 520 master cases of suspected smuggled ci******es concealed beneath bundles of abaca fiber. The confiscated contraband has an estimated market value of PhP20,800,000.00. The three arrested individuals, along with the seized evidence, were brought to the Magsaysay Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.

“This operation shows that criminal groups cannot simply outrun the law. Our border control efforts will remain firm, intelligence-driven, and focused on protecting legitimate trade and public interest,” PGEN Nartatez said.

He added, “Hindi kami titigil sa paghuli sa mga sangkot sa smuggling. Patuloy naming paiigtingin ang pagbabantay sa ating mga hangganan upang mapanagot ang sinumang lalabag sa batas.”

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) continues to intensify its campaign against individuals who use cyberspace to spread bomb threats and sow fear in schools and communities. Through cyber intelligence and coordination with local police units and internet intermediaries, the PNP ACG ensures that those responsible for these malicious acts are identified and brought before the courts.

From January 2026 to the present, the PNP ACG has received and acted upon bomb threat reports nationwide, all of which were subjected to immediate cyber investigation in coordination with the concerned police units to identify these individuals. Meanwhile, the PNP ACG referred 8 cases to court.

The latest incidents occurred on July 8, 2026, when two successive online bomb threats disrupted educational institutions in Cavite after two individuals posted on social media claiming that explosive devices had been planted in several schools in the city, stating, "Humanda kayo, may tinanim kami na bomba sa isa sa mga sumusunod na paaralan… It's not joke." The suspects also taunted law enforcement authorities by posting, "Hindi kami takot sa Security Guards, PNP, at Anti-Cybercrime Group."

Despite their attempt to conceal their identities online, investigators successfully traced the account and determined that it was allegedly operated by minors. Consequently, the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 4A (RACU 4A) filed a criminal complaint through inquest proceedings against the Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL), while the other minor was rescued and turned over to Bahay Pag-asa for appropriate intervention and rehabilitation.

Both incidents demonstrate the growing misuse of social media platforms to spread fear and panic. Many offenders mistakenly believe that anonymous or newly created online accounts cannot be traced. However, through the combined efforts of the PNP ACG, local police stations, and partner agencies, individuals responsible for these threats continue to be identified and held accountable.

The PNP ACG likewise reminded the public that making bomb threats/jokes, whether through social media, messaging applications, emails, or other electronic means, is punishable under Philippine laws, including Presidential Decree No. 1727 (Anti-Bomb Joke Law), which penalizes the malicious dissemination of false information concerning bombs, explosives, or similar threats that create panic or disruption, with imprisonment up to five (5) years and a fine of up to PHP40,000, or both, at the discretion of the court.

Depending on the circumstances of the case, violators may also face other charges applicable to provisions of the Revised Penal Code and application of penalty of one degree higher under the Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the PNP, underscored the PNP's continuing commitment to addressing emerging bomb threats in cyberspace and strengthening the country's digital security framework.

PMGEN Wilson C. Asueta, Director of the PNP ACG, reiterated that bomb threats, whether intended as a prank or a genuine act of intimidation, are serious criminal offenses. "Paalala sa publiko lalo na sa mga kabataan, hindi biro ang bomb threat. Ang bomb joke ay pinagbabawal ng batas at ang mga magulang ay maaring managot kapag ito ay nagdulot ng perwisyo at pinsala," said PMGEN Asueta.

"Ang bawat ulat ay agad naming iniimbestigahan dahil nagdudulot ito ng matinding takot, pagkaantala sa operasyon ng mga paaralan, at panganib sa kaligtasan ng publiko. Walang sinuman ang makapagtatago sa likod ng anonymous social media accounts. We have the capability to trace digital footprints, and we will ensure that those responsible are held accountable before the law," PMGEN Asueta added.

PNP TRACKS DOWN NO. 3 REGIONAL MOST WANTED PERSON IN NEGROS ORIENTAL

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to strengthen its efforts against wanted individuals as police authorities arrested the No. 3 Regional Most Wanted Person for Murder during an operation in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.

Personnel of the Canlaon City Police Station apprehended alias “Jon,” 53, married, and a resident of Canlaon City, on July 7, 2026. The arrest was made by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued in connection with a Murder case.

The operation highlights the PNP’s commitment to ensuring that individuals with pending cases are located and brought before the proper legal process. Police authorities also observed established procedures during the arrest, including informing the arrested individual of the reason for the operation and his constitutional rights.

The successful operation forms part of the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which strengthens police actions through coordinated, timely, and accountable law enforcement efforts.

POLICE ARREST BUSINESSMAN IN PASAY OVER ALLEGED ₱600K WATCH FRAUD

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), arrested a 55-year-old businessman in connection with an alleged fraudulent transaction involving a luxury wristwatch valued at ₱600,000.00 during an operation in Pasay City.

The suspect was apprehended in the early hours of July 9, 2026, inside a casino complex in Pasay City following a complaint involving the alleged sale of a watch presented as an authentic high-end timepiece.

Based on the initial investigation, the victim, a businesswoman, was allegedly offered the item as an investment opportunity, with the assurance that it could be resold for a higher value. The transaction was later questioned after the item underwent authentication and was found to be allegedly counterfeit.

Responding police personnel from the Southern Police District took custody of the suspect and the alleged counterfeit item, which will undergo proper documentation and processing as evidence for the case.

The suspect is facing a complaint for alleged violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code or Estafa through False Pretenses or Fraudulent Representation. The case is being prepared for appropriate legal proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.

THEIR DUTY, THEIR SACRIFICE: PNP HONORS THREE FALLEN POLICE HEROES

The Philippine National Police (PNP) honors the courage and sacrifice of three police personnel who lost their lives while fulfilling their sworn duty to protect the Filipino people in separate operations in Sultan Kudarat and Cavite.

In Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, Pat Apollo Pagurayan and Pat Juril Bullos, PNP members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12 were fatally attacked on July 7, 2026, while performing their duties. Initial reports showed that the two police officers were travelling along Barangay Tinumiguis when they were fired upon by unidentified individuals. Responding units immediately coordinated with other law enforcement partners and launched efforts to pursue leads and bring those responsible to justice.

In a separate incident in Dasmariñas, Cavite, Police Corporal Anthony John Martineza, a member of the Calabarzon police drug enforcement unit also made the ultimate sacrifice during an anti-drug operation. The operation led to the arrest of alias “Jeffrey,” 42, identified as the subject of the operation, while follow-up efforts continue to locate other individuals who may have escaped during the encounter.

PNP RECOVERS NINE FI****MS, ARRESTS ONE AFTER GENERAL SANTOS CITY SHOOTING INCIDENT

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested an individual and recovered nine fi****ms during a hot pursuit operation following a shooting incident in Barangay Labangal, General Santos City, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Police Station 2 of the General Santos City Police Office responded to a reported land conflict that resulted in a shooting incident in the morning. Upon arrival, responding officers secured the area and found a male security guard who sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

A joint operation was immediately launched by personnel from Police Station 2, City Intelligence Unit, City Mobile Force Company, SWAT, and City Drug and Intelligence Management Unit to locate the individuals allegedly involved in the incident.

During the pursuit operation in Purok Mudia, Barangay Labangal, police encountered a group of individuals believed to be connected with the incident. One individual, identified by the alias Mohammad Kidto, 35 years old and a resident of General Santos City, was arrested.

A search conducted after the arrest resulted in the recovery of nine fi****ms from his possession, consisting of seven shotguns and two semi-automatic shotguns. The recovered fi****ms were secured for proper examination and documentation, while follow-up operations continue to identify and locate the other individuals allegedly involved.

PNP TIGHTENS FUGITIVE HUNT, SECURES REGION 8’S MOST WANTED FOR MULTIPLE COUNTS OF R**E

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of Chief, PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested Region 8’s Most Wanted Person for multiple counts of r**e during a manhunt operation conducted on July 5, 2026, along Ramon Chavez Street, Barangay 28, Cagayan de Oro City.

The arrested suspect, identified only by the alias “Totoy,” is a 48-year-old Filipino male driver from Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte. He was apprehended by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued on January 29, 2024, for multiple counts of r**e under Article 266-A, paragraph 1, in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 11648, with no bail recommended.

The successful operation was conducted by personnel of the 2nd Southern Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd SLPMFC). Following his arrest, the suspect was brought to Police Station 2 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office for documentation and proper disposition before his turnover to the court of origin.

PNP TRACKS DOWN FOUR REGIONAL MOST WANTED PERSONS IN NATIONWIDE OPERATIONS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to strengthen its campaign against wanted individuals following the successful arrest of four Top Most Wanted Persons in separate operations conducted across the country on July 7, 2026.

The coordinated efforts of police units from different areas led to the apprehension of individuals wanted for cases involving statutory r**e, murder, r**e, and violations of special laws, with all operations conducted through the implementation of valid warrants of arrest and adherence to proper procedures.

In Baguio City, police authorities arrested a 45-year-old Filipino identified as the No. 1 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office-Cordillera in connection with alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10883 and two counts of violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 22.

In Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte, a 48-year-old Filipino listed as the No. 1 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 8 was also apprehended in relation to a r**e case.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old Filipino identified as the No. 2 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 5 was arrested in Iriga City, Camarines Sur, in connection with a murder case.

In Cebu City, a 23-year-old Filipino listed as the No. 3 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 10 was arrested for four counts of statutory r**e.

PNP INTENSIFIES ANTI-CYBERCRIME DRIVE; 30 ARRESTED, 44 CASES FILED

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through its Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), sustained its intensified campaign against cyber-enabled offenses after recording 30 arrests, filing 44 criminal cases, and securing two convictions in operations conducted from June 26 to July 2, 2026.

The week-long accomplishment included the arrest of 20 individuals by virtue of warrants of arrest and 10 others through entrapment operations. Cases acted upon involved cyber libel, online estafa, and violations of the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA), among other cyber-related offenses.

The operations were carried out through case build-up, cyber patrolling, digital forensic examination, intelligence monitoring, and close coordination with complainants, prosecutors, and partner law enforcement agencies. These efforts form part of the PNP's continuing implementation of its Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, supporting the directive of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen public safety and uphold the rule of law in both physical and digital spaces.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating personnel for their consistent efforts in addressing crimes committed through digital platforms.

"Cybercrime continues to evolve, and so must our response.
