ARKA ni NOAH 🌱🚢

We work hard to give our children security—especially through education, opportunities, and access to resources. But times have changed.

In giving them a more comfortable life, some of our children may no longer experience the hardships that taught us resilience, resourcefulness, and independence. Some may not know how to ride a public jeepney because we want to keep them safe. Some may struggle to sleep without air-conditioning, cook a simple meal, or grow their own food.

This is progress—but progress can also create dependency.

As we build bigger cities and become more dependent on systems controlled by others, we risk losing the basic skills that allow families and communities to survive, adapt, and stand on their own.

And what happens when greed takes over? When we continue extracting and destroying our natural resources, mismanage what we have, and allow powerful and abusive corporations to control essential needs?

Perhaps this is why Noah built the Ark.

The Ark was not only built for Noah to survive the flood. It was built to protect his family, preserve life, and secure the future of the generations that would come after him.

Maybe, in our time, building an “Ark” means preparing our families and communities—not through fear, but through resilience, knowledge, food security, sustainable living, and the ability to care for one another.

Progress should not make us helpless.

We must move forward without forgetting how to survive, grow, build, and live in harmony with nature. 🌱

Smart development begins with understanding the real problem.

ARKA Inc. Founder and CEO Neil Clyde Kho shared that meaningful technology must be grounded in the realities of the communities it is designed to serve.

“We cannot create something really smart without really understanding what is happening in the community,” Kho said.

Before developing solutions, the ARKA team spent more than six months immersing themselves in a farming community—listening to residents, understanding their challenges, and learning about their hopes and dreams for agriculture.

This human-centered approach led to the development of the Ark of Agriculture, or ARKA, an agricultural supply-chain platform that connects farming communities directly to markets and helps improve productivity, income opportunities, and long-term resilience.

At ARKA, we believe technology should not be built for communities from a distance. It should be built with them, based on their actual needs and aspirations.

We are grateful to the Department of Science and Technology for featuring ARKA’s journey and our commitment to building smarter, more inclusive, and more sustainable agricultural communities.
