PNP NETS 7 IN ₱5.26-M SMUGGLING CRACKDOWN

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested seven individuals and confiscated ₱5,257,462.40 worth of suspected smuggled ci******es, equipment used in the manufacture and distribution of unlabeled cooking oil, and transport assets during separate anti-smuggling operations conducted on July 24, 2026 in Sarangani Province, Batangas, and Davao City. The operations also led to the identification of two other suspects who remain at large and are now the subject of ongoing police manhunt operations.

In Barangay Cupang, Bauan, Batangas, a joint operation by the PNP, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Municipal Health Office resulted in the arrest of a Filipino female of legal age involved in the alleged manufacture and distribution of unlabeled cooking oil products. Authorities confiscated assorted oil storage tanks, a refilling machine, a weighing scale, an Elf truck, and buy-bust money, with the seized equipment valued at ₱2,500,000.00. The alleged owner of the establishment was not present during the operation. Meanwhile, along the shoreline of Barangay Kanalo, Maasim, Sarangani Province, police arrested a Filipino male of legal age and confiscated 1,640 reams of suspected foreign-made smuggled ci******es without proof of lawful importation, valued at ₱1,402,462.40, together with two boats believed to have been used in transporting the contraband. Another suspect fled during the pursuit operation and remains the subject of follow-up police operations.

In Barangay Bago Aplaya, Talomo District, Davao City, authorities also arrested five Filipino males of legal age, including one identified only by the alias “Ungod Raf,” during a buy-bust operation that resulted in the confiscation of 15 master cases of suspected foreign-made smuggled ci******es without the required importation documents, valued at ₱1,355,000.00, including the marked buy-bust money. All arrested individuals and the confiscated evidence were placed under police custody for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.

“Smuggling sustains criminal networks, undermines legitimate businesses, and erodes respect for the rule of law. Our operations will remain focused on dismantling illegal supply chains and ensuring that those responsible face the full force of the law,” said PGEN Nartatez.

PNP NABS 7 MOST WANTED FUGITIVES IN R**E, SEX-CRIME MANHUNT

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested seven (7) Most Wanted Persons facing r**e and other sexual offense charges in separate operations conducted on July 24 to 25, 2026, reinforcing its sustained campaign to bring fugitives accused of crimes against women and children before the courts.

The series of operations led to the capture of the No. 6 Regional Most Wanted Person in Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 wanted for two counts of Statutory R**e and Act of Lasciviousness, the No. 9 Regional Most Wanted Person in PRO13 facing five counts of R**e; a Regional Most Wanted Person in Antipolo City, Rizal charged with R**e and Sexual Assault; another in Coron, Palawan facing three counts of Qualified R**e by Carnal Knowledge and violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act No. 7610; another in Taytay, Rizal charged with R**e and two counts of Lascivious Conduct; another in Tanay, Rizal charged with Statutory R**e; and another in Calamba City, Laguna charged with R**e.

The arrests were carried out by various PNP operating units implementing warrants issued by the courts in coordination with other police units. All seven accused are now under the custody of their respective police units for documentation and proper legal disposition.

PNP BLOCKS ₱2.65-M ILLEGAL MINERAL ORE SHIPMENT, NABS DRIVER

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., foiled the illegal transport of ₱2.65 million worth of alleged unprocessed mineral ores and arrested a truck driver during an anti-illegal mining operation in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental on July 23, 2026, reinforcing the government’s campaign against the unlawful exploitation and transport of the country’s mineral resources.

A joint anti-illegal mining checkpoint operation by the 1002nd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10, and other PNP operating and intelligence units in Misamis Occidental led to the interception of a green FUSO winged van at the Regional Border Control Point in Barangay Lilo-an, Bonifacio. The driver failed to present documents covering the cargo, prompting an inspection that resulted in the seizure of 530 sacks of alleged unprocessed mineral ores valued at ₱2,650,000.00, along with the truck used to transport them.

The 46-year-old Filipino male driver later admitted that he was transporting the alleged mineral ores and voluntarily opened the vehicle’s cargo compartment. He was brought to the Bonifacio Municipal Police Station for proper documentation, while charges for violation of Section 53 of Republic Act No. 7942, otherwise known as the Philippine Mining Act of 1995, are being prepared. The confiscated mineral ores remain under the temporary custody of the 1002nd Maneuver Company pending megascopic analysis and examination by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region 10.

“Protecting our natural resources requires decisive law enforcement and unwavering vigilance. We will sustain our operations against those who exploit the country’s mineral wealth outside the bounds of the law,” PGEN Nartatez said.

PNP STATEMENT ON CIRCULATING CLAIMS OF A NATIONWIDE GUN BAN DURING THE FIFTH SONA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarifies that no nationwide gun ban has been imposed in connection with the Fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Information circulating online claiming that a nationwide gun ban will be enforced during the SONA is incorrect.

The PNP has not issued any directive imposing a nationwide gun ban for the event. However, existing laws, local ordinances, and established security protocols remain in effect. As part of the security preparations for the SONA, police personnel will strictly enforce restrictions on the carrying of fi****ms and other deadly weapons in designated security areas and other locations where such restrictions are authorized.

The PNP encourages the public to rely only on information released through its official communication channels and to refrain from sharing unverified posts that may cause confusion.

PNP MOBILIZES PERSONNEL, STRENGTHENS DISASTER READINESS AS "KIYAPO" MOVES ACROSS THE COUNTRY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to mobilize personnel and resources as Tropical Depression "KIYAPO," enhanced by the Southwest Monsoon, affects several parts of the country, with police units supporting disaster preparedness and response efforts alongside local government units and partner agencies.

Acting on the directive of Chief, PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., police units continue to work closely with local disaster response councils and other government agencies in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s whole-of-government disaster preparedness efforts.

As of 12:00 noon on July 24, the PNP has deployed 294 personnel to evacuation centers, vital installations, and monitoring and road-clearing operations, while 2,390 Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) personnel remain ready for immediate deployment. Police Regional Offices continue to monitor weather developments and assist local authorities in areas under tropical cyclone wind signals and those affected by heavy rains.

Current reports show 1,303 families or 4,349 individuals staying in 14 occupied evacuation centers. The PNP has likewise monitored class suspensions in several affected areas as precautionary measures. As of the latest report, no casualties, law and order incidents, or damage to PNP facilities have been recorded.

"Our personnel are on the ground and ready to respond wherever needed. Ang ating mga kapulisan ay nananatiling nakaalerto upang makatulong sa ating mga kababayan at matiyak ang kanilang kaligtasan habang patuloy nating mino-monitor ang sitwasyon," PGen Nartatez said.

He also urged the public to remain vigilant and follow official advisories.

"Makinig lamang tayo sa mga abiso ng PAGASA at ng inyong lokal na pamahalaan. Sa panahon ng ganitong sitwasyon, ang maagang paghahanda at pagtutulungan ang pinakamahalaga," he added.

TRACKING DEVICE HELPS PNP RECOVER ₱2.8 MILLION HOURS AFTER ALLEGED ESTAFA, SUSPECT ARRESTED IN QUEZON CITY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported the swift recovery of approximately ₱2.8 million in cash and the arrest of a 31-year-old male suspect following a technology-assisted follow-up operation conducted by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), only hours after an alleged estafa incident in Quezon City.

The operation stemmed from a complaint involving more than ₱3.4 million that was allegedly obtained through a fraudulent transaction. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly presented himself as a representative of an organization purportedly involved in accrediting agencies deploying overseas Filipino workers to Taiwan.

He allegedly convinced the victim that a U.S. dollar account was required as part of the accreditation process, prompting the preparation of a substantial amount of money for the supposed transaction.

Police said the victim, a 48-year-old businesswoman, withdrew ₱3 million from her bank accounts and met the suspect on July 22. During the meeting, the suspect allegedly asked to temporarily carry the victim's luxury handbag containing the cash, claiming he would exchange it for U.S. dollars from a nearby vehicle. He reportedly left the area and did not return.

The breakthrough came when investigators discovered that the victim's bag contained a tracking device. Using the location data, NCRPO operatives immediately launched a follow-up operation that led them to Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, where the suspect was arrested at around 6:00 a.m. on July 23.

Recovered during the operation were approximately ₱2.8 million in cash, the victim's luxury handbag, and other personal belongings. Police are continuing efforts to locate the remaining unrecovered property and complete the filing of appropriate charges.

The successful operation underscores the PNP's continuing efforts to enhance investigative capabilities under its Focused Agenda, particularly through Enhanced Managing Police Operations, by maximizing available technology and intelligence to accelerate crime solution and property recovery. The Chief PNP also urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with individuals offering investment, accreditation, or financial transactions that require substantial cash payments, stressing the importance of verifying identities and coordinating with legitimate institutions before releasing money.

HIGH-PROFILE KOREAN FUGITIVE WANTED UNDER INTERPOL RED NOTICE CAPTURED

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., has arrested a high-profile South Korean fugitive wanted through an INTERPOL Red Notice, marking another significant accomplishment in the country’s campaign against transnational crime and reinforcing its commitment to international law enforcement cooperation.

The fugitive was arrested on July 15, 2026, at NAIA Terminal 1 in Pasay City by personnel of the Foreign Intelligence and Liaison Division (FILD), Intelligence Group (IG), together with the Fugitive Search Unit of the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), and Police Station 5, Makati City Police Station, in coordination with the Korean National Police Agency and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. The operation was carried out pursuant to a Bureau of Immigration Mission Order against the South Korean national, who is the subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice dated December 12, 2025, following an arrest warrant issued by the Busan District Court for violation of Article 247 of the Criminal Act (Opening of a Cyber Gambling House).

Authorities established that the fugitive had fraudulently acquired a Cambodian identity bearing the same date of birth and was among the priority fugitives requested for arrest by the Korean Embassy in the Philippines. Investigation further revealed that he and two accomplices operated an illegal online gambling hub from a high-rise commercial building in Makati City’s central business district, offering hundreds of gambling games, including internet-based sports betting and baccarat, while facilitating deposits of gambling funds through accounts under their control.

“No fugitive should see the Philippines as a place to hide from justice. Through close international cooperation and intelligence-driven operations, the PNP remains committed to helping bring transnational offenders before the courts where they are accountable,” said PGEN Nartatez.

PNP REPORTS OVER 281,000 UNIFIED 911 CALLS, URGES RESPONSIBLE USE OF NATIONAL EMERGENCY HOTLINE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that the government's Unified 911 system has received a total of 281,394 calls from August 26, 2025 to July 22, 2026, underscoring the increasing use of the country's centralized emergency response platform and the continuing need for the responsible use of the national emergency hotline.

During the period, the system recorded 71,122 legitimate police emergency calls, alongside 13,261 fire-related emergencies and 31,756 requests for medical assistance, reflecting the public's growing reliance on Unified 911 for immediate help during critical situations.

Among the police-related emergencies received, public order disturbances accounted for the highest number of legitimate calls, followed by concerns involving public safety and emergency response, traffic-related incidents, and crimes against persons and property. According to the PNP, these call trends help guide police deployment and operational planning to ensure a more responsive emergency service.

The PNP also noted that 38,582 calls, or 13.71 percent of the total, were classified as prank calls. While legitimate emergency calls remained the priority, the PNP reminded the public that unnecessary calls can delay assistance to individuals facing real emergencies.
