SUN-DRIED HEIRLOOM TOMATOES

We're going to seriously blow our own trumpet here, but these "midget" heritage tomatoes that we grow are amazing and incredibly delicious sun-dried. When they are paired with cream cheese from Noble Goat PH and some fresh genovese sweet basil on a crusty italian bread, this simple and easy-to-make snack is fit for a king.

FRENCH BEANS 🫘

There is a strong chance that you have heard of haricot verts on menus of high-end, fancy restaurants. They are actually green beans but are not the same as the green beans (Baguio Beans) we’re used to here in the Philippines.

Haricot Verts is a French type of green beans, slender, smaller and more tender than the typical beans. They cook much faster due to their thinner and more tender structure because they are harvested while still young.

While green beans have a more robust, slightly grassy taste, French beans, on the other hand, possess a delicate, subtly sweet flavor that taste less green and more refined.

French beans, as the name suggests, are believed to have originated in France while green beans have roots traced back to South America.

GOLDEN BEETS

"MIDGET" HEIRLOOM TOMATOES 🍅✨

Tasting a variety of different heirloom tomatoes is much like tasting a range of distinctly different beers, wines, or chocolates. There are dominant flavor notes and a whole host of nuances and subtleties. Different tomatoes conjure up all kinds of cooking creativity, working backward to formulate a recipe around the tomato itself rather than using the tomato as a flavor enhancer.

Now, what about these petite heirloom tomatoes that we call "midgets" but which are not cherry tomatoes? Well… never underestimate these toms. They may not have grown to its ideal size, but they are sweet and flavorful. (Our CEO, Tancho Baes, prefers them to the mature ones for that reason).

There are so many recipes online that will give you ideas on what to do with these tomatoes. Just type “heirloom tomatoes.” Be inventive like we are. We made a salad from these midgets with Adlai rice cooked al dente and soaked in honey, lemon, dijon mustard and herbs for 3 hours. Crazy? You might think. But it's yummy and it’s a keeper! 🙌🏼

Japanese Long Cucumber (Heirloom)

Did you know that Japanese cucumbers have some cooling properties and are eaten especially during peak summer season in Japan when it is hot and humid? These delicious heirloom cucumbers would be perfect to munch on as a snack or put in salads to cool down your bodies during this time where heat is scorching here in Davao City. It has a crisp texture with a slight sweetness to it when you take a bite and it does not have the bitterness that you can taste in regular cucumbers.

We have limited supplies this week as it is our first harvest for this batch. Message us to place your order for tomorrow's (Thursday) delivery. You may also reserve yours for next Monday's delivery.

This ancient green is so versatile. It can be eaten cooked or raw and can be served as a standalone side dish, salad or soup.
