Looking back how Tsoko De Maria started.
Way back November 2019, we started as “Tableya Ni Maria.” Named after our grandmother Maria, the original tableya maker and the face behind our logo.🥹 Credit also goes to our church pastor, Ptr. Jong, who created our brand logo.
And when we say we started from scratch…we really mean it.
Nagbebenta lang kami noon sa online FB groups and honestly, sobrang saya na namin makabenta ng 4–6 kilos in a month.😅
Traditional pa talaga ang paggawa namin noon, circle molders with banana leaves underneath, mano-mano lahat. Umaabot lang kami noon ng around 50–100 pcs a day.
Lahat nag gamit was borrowed from our Aunts and kamag-anak. Nakiki-ref, big plates, metal & plastic bowls, scraper…as in lahat. Sa palengke pa kami nagpapa grind ng roasted cacao beans.
Then the pandemic happened… and we stopped.
Year 2021, we decided to try again. We changed our molders into plastic ones (yes, yung pang p**o 😅) para mas marami kaming ma-produce.
Hard selling talaga noon.
House to house kami nag-ooffer sa neighbors, pati ka-trabaho, meet ups, post sa FB groups…purely organic reach lang.
Along the way, we joined trainings about tableya and eventually changed our name to “Tsoko De Maria” because another seller already registered as “Tableya Ni Maria” in DTI.
We also met generous people who believed in us and even helped us by letting us borrow capital when we were just starting.
And the rest was history. 🥹
6 years later, we’re still here, making pure, freshly made tableya everyday.
From our humble beginnings to everyone supporting us today… thank you so much for being part of our journey!
Our mission has never been just to sell tableya.
It’s to bring comfort to families, help people choose something more natural, and keep the traditional way of making real cacao alive for the next generation.
