Gran Verde Family Farm

Gran Verde Family Farm Open for prebooked tours, no walk=ins. It is the single origin cacao bean used in crafting all treats of Wit's Sweets and Savouries.

Gran Verde is a regenerative farm guided by permaculture and local wisdom, growing healing food and transforming land into an edible forest that restores soil, supports biodiversity, and reconnects people to culture. Nestled in the fertile landscapes of Calinan, Davao City, Gran Verde Farm is a family-run oasis dedicated to sustainable farming and natural experiences. Specializing in the cultivati

on of cacao and a variety of fresh produce, our farm embodies a commitment to organic practices and biodiversity. Predominantly producing cacao beans of the Trinitario variety, Gran Verde seeks to supply dried and fermented beans to the local and global market. Gran Verde works with the Davao Cacao Industry Council and Cacao City Marketing Cooperative to promote sustainable practices for cacao production and processing. In addition to our vibrant produce, Gran Verde is home to stingless bee colonies, contributing to our holistic approach to farming by supporting natural pollination and producing exquisite honey. At Gran Verde, we also offer a truly unique and immersive cacao experience, where visitors can explore the journey of cacao from bean to bar. Whether you're tasting our freshly harvested cacao, engaging in the beekeeping process, or simply soaking in the natural beauty of our farm, you'll leave with a deeper connection to the land and its bounty. Gran Verde is more than just a farm—it's a celebration of nature, sustainability, and community.

Filipino billionaires are famous for building the world’s largest malls. From an accounting perspective, these are "Safe Assets." They provide steady rent and cash flow. But from an economic growth perspective, malls are Low-Innovation Assets.

Compare this to our neighbors. While our capital is tied up in real estate and retail, countries like Vietnam and Malaysia are pouring billions into R&D (Research and Development) and tech manufacturing.

The Philippines currently spends less than 0.2% of its GDP on R&D. The global average is over 2%. This is why we have "Jobless Growth"—the economy grows, the malls get bigger, but we aren't creating new technologies or patents that can be exported to the world. We are becoming a nation of "Sellers," not "Inventors."

The Lesson: We need to move from Real Estate Capital to Venture Capital. The next generation of Filipino wealth shouldn't come from owning the land a store sits on, but from owning the intellectual property of the products inside that store.

Promoting stingless beekeeping means protecting pollinators, strengthening biodiversity, and supporting food security—one small hive at a time. 🐝🌿

It’s a gentle, regenerative practice that nurtures both people and the planet.

And this July, we are teaching it right here at Gran Verde Family Farm.

Batayang Kaalaman sa Permakultura is a 5-day hands-on training where you will learn composting, food forests, natural water systems, and how to design a life that gives back to the earth. No experience needed. Just curiosity and a little willingness to get dirty. 🤎

Fun fact: one teaspoon of healthy soil holds more living organisms than there are people on Earth. 🪱 Come learn how to protect it.

Go Helen.... an urban herbalist/entrepreneur, nurturing self and others leads the way for women food growers.

: Society always taught us not to give up. But sometimes, giving up something important allows one to move forward and find their own happiness.

Such is the case of Helen Joy Icogo Cejar, 57, a full-time agripreneur in Davao Del Sur. In 2017, Cejar decided to close her school supply store to look after her 94-year-old mother and to start an edible garden that can provide healthy meals for her family.

Meet our facilitators. 🐝🌿

Behind every thriving hive is someone who truly understands the land — and Wit Holganza is exactly that person.

A regenerative agriculture advocate, cacao champion, and passionate stingless beekeeper, Wit leads Gran Verde Family Farm in Davao where she has spent years weaving together permaculture, native beekeeping, and sustainable cacao systems into one living, breathing farm ecosystem.

She doesn’t just teach beekeeping — she lives it. From tending her own stingless bee colonies to co-creating farm-to-table brands like WITSSS and Lilamaya, everything Wit does is rooted in a deep respect for nature and community.

This May, she opens the farm and shares everything she knows — so you can start your own journey with the hive. 🍯
