๐ŸŒฟ Hello, Aquatic Hobbyists! ๐ŸŸ

Itโ€™s been a while since our last post.

First, weโ€™d like to apologize for being inactive since November 24, 2025. As students, we had to focus on our studies and academic responsibilities, which meant taking a step back from regularly updating our page.

Even though we werenโ€™t posting, Ray Aquatics never stopped growing behind the scenes. We continued learning, improving, and planning ways to better serve our fellow hobbyists.

Now, weโ€™re happy to share that weโ€™re back! ๐Ÿ’š

Moving forward, weโ€™ll be posting updates, available stocks, aquarium tips, and hobby-related content more consistently. While we may not post every day, weโ€™ll make sure to keep the page active and updated whenever possible.

Thank you to everyone who continued supporting and following Ray Aquatics during our quiet months. Your support means a lot to us. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

โ€” Ray Aquatics

Magna Daphnia

Daphnia magna, also known as the โ€œwater flea,โ€ is one of the most fascinating creatures in the aquatic world. These tiny crustaceans play a huge role not just in fishkeeping, but also in scientific research and environmental studies. Scientists use Daphnia as a bioindicator species, meaning their reactions help determine the health and toxicity levels of water. Because they are highly sensitive to pollutants and chemicals, theyโ€™re often used in ecotoxicology experiments to monitor water quality and pollution levels. ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ’ง

In research labs, Daphnia are also used to study genetics, physiology, and population dynamics. Their transparent bodies make it easy for scientists to observe heartbeats, digestion, and even embryo development under a microscope โ€” all without harming the organism.

But beyond science, Daphnia magna is also beloved by aquarists. Theyโ€™re one of the best live foods for guppies, mollies, and other tropical fish โ€” providing high protein, improving color, and enhancing breeding success.

Under good conditions (clean water, sunlight, and proper nutrients), they reproduce extremely fast โ€” sometimes doubling their population in just 2โ€“3 days. A single female can produce dozens of offspring each week through parthenogenesis, a process where they clone themselves without mating!

Whether in a research lab or a fishkeeperโ€™s tank, Daphnia magna proves that even the smallest creatures can have an enormous impact on science and nature. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ

Platinum Dumbo Ear Red Tail (PDERT) Guppy ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

FUN FACTS

๐Ÿ”น Platinum body โ€” a metallic, reflective sheen caused by specific color genetics that makes them sparkle under light.

๐Ÿ”น Dumbo Ear โ€” named for their enlarged pectoral fins that look like little elephant ears; they add a cute, fluttery swim style.

๐Ÿ”น Red Tail โ€” the vivid red caudal fin is a striking contrast to the platinum body and a key trait breeders select for.

๐Ÿ”น Early color show โ€” PDERT fry often display hints of platinum or red early, but full brilliance comes with maturity and good diet.

๐Ÿ”น Perfect for planted tanks โ€” they love swimming through plants and appreciate hiding spots for fry and resting.

๐Ÿ’ง Care tip: keep stable water params, feed a varied diet (flakes + live/frozen micro-foods), and provide plenty of cover for fry.
