What’s In Your Kitchen?
This page is a repository of recipes from ingredients people can find in their pantry, ref, or backyard garden. You can contribute by sending at least 2 pictures - the main ingredients and finished dish plus the list of ingredients and the cooking steps. You may include estimates of budget, serving size, and alternative ingredient if not available. Include the phrase: From the kitchen of (name of contributor) to help us give credit to your work.
Another feature of this page is to recommend a recipe based on your own inventory. You may send a list of ingredients you have in your house and with the help of our fellow home economists and chefs, we will post a recipe for it. There will also be recommendations of recipes from your left-overs.
The idea for this project came about due to community quarantine during the covid-19 pandemic. As home economists, we hope to contribute in our little own way. During the conceptualization, through a network of friends, I’ve learned of similar efforts (such as that of Chef Carla Asence referred by UP alumna Chef Annali) and we hope that through this repository, people will find it easier to search for recipes they might need.
We welcome contributions from people from all walks of life; whether the ingredients you have are the ones you find in your backyard or some expensive ones. We understand that the challenge to think of what to cook is a universal one, albeit some may have more difficulty due to available resources. Instead of focusing on that inequality, we hope instead that we build each other up. Each family has its own resource (Gabriel, Bantang, Chua, Dare, & Malicdem, 2017) and we hope to help maximize those resources in this project.
