“MERALCO MAHIYA NAMAN KAYO” may trend online easily but The Government shouldn’t simply brush it off. Honestly, after recently having solar installed at home, I kinda understand both sides.

We wanted solar mainly because sobrang mahal na rin talaga ng kuryente. But during the process, na-realize namin hindi rin biro magpakabit. We didn’t have the budget to get a full supplier package, so kami mismo naghanap at bumili ng parts one by one. Costly at matrabaho. We were just lucky kasi may nakilala kaming certified PV installer who helped us with the installation and requirements.

Because of that experience, gets ko rin bakit may point si MERALCO when it comes to regulation and safety. Hindi kasi lahat ng installation maayos pagkakagawa. Faulty systems can cause fires, backfeeding issues, grid instability, and risks sa homeowners and even utility workers.

Pero at the same time, sana naman if maglalagay ng stricter regulations, huwag gawing impossible yung process. Alam naman natin gaano ka-tedious minsan government procedures dito sa Pilipinas. Kapag sobrang daming requirements, permits, at gastos, baka lalo lang madiscourage yung ordinary homeowners na gusto mag-shift to renewable energy.

Not everyone can afford expensive suppliers or premium installers. Kaya sana instead of making it harder, magkaroon ng clear guidelines, proper assistance, affordable certification/training, and accessible processes para mas maraming tao ang makahabol safely and legally.

At the end of the day, dapat balanced. Safe and regulated, yes but still practical and accessible for ordinary Filipinos.
