🌧️ Grateful for the Rain, Preparing for the Next Planting! 🌱🍌

We are thankful for the intermittent rains we’ve been receiving since Saturday. Every rainfall brings much-needed moisture to the farm as we prepare for the next batch of 150 Lakatan seedlings, scheduled for planting soon. 🍌🌧️

At the same time, we are also waiting for another batch of new planting materials, with an estimated 200 corms expected to be added to our nursery and expansion activities.

As we continue completing our irrigation setup in Zones 4 and 5, we are doing our best to prepare the farm and protect our crops as much as possible during the peak of El Niño. 💧🌱

One step at a time, one planting batch at a time. We remain hopeful that with proper preparation, timely rain, and continuous care, our crops will be able to weather this challenging season. 🙏🌿

Thankful for every drop of rain. Grateful for every new seedling. And committed to keep growing.🌱🍌

🔥 A Setback, But Not the End of the Journey 🌱

A grass fire recently affected a portion of VM Farm – Zone 4, Phase 2, burning several of our newly established crops, including 2-month-old Robusta coffee seedlings, Lakatan banana plants, and 2-year-old coconut trees.

The timing could not have been more difficult. Our area has already experienced more than a month without rain, with the current super El Niño conditions bringing extremely dry weather and temperatures reaching approximately 40–50°C. Under these conditions, even a small grass fire can quickly become a serious threat to a growing farm.

It is painful to see young plants that we carefully nurtured being lost to fire—especially those that represented months of preparation, planting, and hope for the future.

But farming has always taught us one thing: we cannot control every challenge, but we can choose how we respond to it.

🌱 We will replant.
🌱 We will rebuild.
🌱 We will continue.

This setback will not change the original vision of VM Farm—to build a productive, sustainable, and resilient farm while creating opportunities not only for our family, but also for the community around us.

For every plant that was lost, we will plant again. For every setback, we will find a way forward.

The fire may have burned some of what we planted, but it will never burn the vision behind why we started. 🌱💪

🌱 Every sustainable farm begins with a single decision—to keep planting, even when the harvest is still far away.

When we began developing VM Farm in late 2023, we knew we weren't simply planting crops—we were planting a vision. A vision of a farm that could thrive through diversity, resilience, and sustainable agriculture.

Rather than relying on just one source of income, we chose to build an integrated farming system where every crop has a purpose and every harvest supports the next.

☕ Coffee for long-term value.
🍌 Banana for steady production.
🥬 Hydroponics for continuous fresh harvests.
🌳 Fruit trees for the future.
🌿 Rubber tapping for additional farm income.
Each one is a piece of a bigger picture.

In mid-2025, with the invaluable funding support of the Department of Agriculture, we took a bold step forward by expanding our coffee and banana projects. It wasn't simply about planting more—it was about laying a stronger foundation for the future of VM Farm.

The truth is, we have not yet reached our financial break-even point. Farming is a long journey that demands patience, perseverance, and faith. Many of the crops we planted today will only reveal their full potential in the years ahead.

But every season reminds us that success in agriculture is not measured only by today's income. It is measured by the trees taking root, the lessons learned, the resilience built through every challenge, and the hope that grows alongside every seed we plant.
We remain hopeful that by 2027, VM Farm will achieve stable and sustainable farm income—not because it happened overnight, but because every step was built with purpose.

To everyone who has supported our journey—our family, friends, fellow farmers, the Department of Agriculture, the Gingoog City Agriculture Office, and everyone who believes in our vision—thank you for growing with us.

The best time to plant a tree was years ago. The second best time is today.
And that's exactly what we're doing.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the entire Gingoog City Agriculture Office for this meaningful recognition and for your unwavering dedication to empowering local farmers. We also extend our sincere gratitude to Mayor Erick G. Canosa and his team for their steadfast support of the agricultural sector and their continued commitment to strengthening farming communities in Gingoog City.

🌿☕ From 800 Trees to 2,000+ Strong!

In October 2023, we began rejuvenating around 800 Robusta coffee trees. In 2024, we planted 300 more, followed by another 700 during our 2025 Coffee Expansion Project.

Today, with the arrival of the final batch of 400+ Robusta seedlings and 9 Excelsa freebies, VM Farm's coffee expansion is officially complete—bringing our farm to 2,000+ Robusta coffee trees.

This milestone would not have been possible without the invaluable support of the Gingoog City Agriculture Office, whose commitment to local coffee growers continues to inspire and strengthen farmers like us.

Together with Lakatan bananas for intercropping and Excelsa for natural pollination, we're cultivating not just coffee, but a more sustainable future.

Great things are built with patience and a lot of heart. 🕊️☕

It’s been less than a year since we planted Zones 4 and 5 (June–July 2025), and the progress is pure magic! ✨

We are excited to share updates on our two major brands that are currently fueling our farm's growth:

☕ Robusta Coffee: Our first white flowers are appearing! Others are already sporting tiny, "monggo-like" sprouts. The harvest is officially loading.

🍌 Banana: Thriving and standing tall, our bananas are proving to be the perfect partner for our coffee trees across both zones.

This journey is a daily lesson in hard work and perseverance. We are filled with appreciation for every sprout and leaf—proof that when you put in the soul, the land gives back. 🌱🙏
