Do Gift Certificates expire? 🤔

Under RA 10962, 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 “𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭” 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫—𝐬𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞. Consumers should not lose their money just because time has passed.

It is also prohibited to impose an expiry date on the stored value, credit, or balance of the gift check.

⚠️ However, not all are covered.

The non-expiry rule does NOT apply to:
• Those issued under loyalty programs
• Those issued as rewards
• Those issued under promotional programs
• Coupons or vouchers (Section 6, RA 10962)
• Other instruments later determined by DTI as excluded

✔️ Contact the issuer and ask for assistance
