My family lived a simple life in the province where salt, soy sauce with oil, and salted grated coconut were served frequently in our dining table. We sometimes had just porridge as our meal for the entire day, because of financial struggles. We also experienced collecting shells and other good stuff we can find as food whenever it's low tide just to fill our stomach for the day. But in all of the
se, by the Grace of God, we remained content with what we had. My mother was often hired to cook for days in weddings, feasts, birthdays, thanksgiving events and anniversaries. We would then have delicious meals whenever she came home from work due to her hard-earned money. Most of the delicious food we enjoyed were a result of curiosity and thoughtful experiments. My grandparents, who were also great cooks, have traveled to many places to cook for mayors and government officials during their time. She would invite them to eat with us at our house. She had the passion to feed and serve church workers, and this inspired me as well to do the same. I knew right then that this was I want to do in life -- to cook. I love cooking just like my mother and grandparents. The Lord has blessed me with a talent in cooking and a desire to continue the legacy of my mother. This is why Bonita's Bistro was born. It is my desire to bring happiness and joy to all who eat the food Bonita's Bistro has to offer, because every dish is prepared with so much love and passion.
