The Ink Rebel rebellion continues.

It started when a friend casually called Cheska CK an “Ink Rebel.”

Her response?

“Thank you. I like that. Now leave me alone. I’m going to write a song about it.”

And she did.

That’s how INK REBEL was born.

But there’s one line in the song that made us laugh because, without even trying, she pretty much wrote herself into it:

“The wife who said,
‘Excuse me, I’m not done.’”

If you know Cheska, you know.

She’s definitely not done.

More stories to tell. More lyrics to write. And probably a little more trouble to put on paper.

We honestly had to look at this twice.

“The Songs Came Home” is featured on a full page of the Asian Journal’s Northern California edition.

We released this song simply to thank Ms. Cecile Azarcon Inocentes for the music she has given us through the years. We were nervous just letting her hear it. Seeing it now take up an entire newspaper page feels unreal.

Lovern Myrome and I go all the way back to 1993 at Jollibee Imus. He was our Production Controller, and I was part of the management team. Who would have thought that more than 30 years later, our paths would cross again through music?

I’ve watched him come a long way since those Jollibee days. Today, he has made a name for himself as a Visual Merchandiser, with his creativity and artistry taking him places. I’m proud of what he has accomplished.

And now, at 53, he trusted me with a very personal part of his story. The dreams he kept to himself, the love, the compromises, the things he couldn’t always say, and ultimately, learning to love the life he has lived and the man he has become.

That story became “Everything It Took to Be Me.”

Another little moment we’re quietly grateful for.

This song was simply our way of saying thank you to someone whose music has been part of so many Filipino lives. Seeing the story travel beyond where we first shared it is something we never expected, and something we don’t take for granted.
