1.Pata Tim Recipe
Here's a simple recipe for Pata Tim, a delicious Filipino braised pork hock dish:
Ingredients:
2 to 3 pounds of pork hock (pata)
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup oyster sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 onion, sliced
1 head of garlic, minced
2-3 pieces of star anise
1 cinnamon stick
2 bay leaves
1 cup water
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking oil for sautéing
Instructions:
In a large pot or a pressure cooker, heat some cooking oil and sauté the minced garlic and sliced onion until fragrant and translucent.
Add the pork hock and sear until it's lightly browned on all sides.
Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and water. Stir to combine.
Add the brown sugar, star anise, cinnamon stick, and bay leaves. Mix well.
Cover the pot and simmer the pork on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours or until it becomes tender. If you're using a pressure cooker, it will take less time.
Check the pork's tenderness. If it's not yet tender, continue to simmer until it reaches your desired softness.
Once the pork is tender and the sauce has thickened, season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve your Pata Tim with steamed rice and enjoy!
Remember to adjust the cooking time and liquid as needed, and feel free to garnish with green onions or fried garlic for added flavor. Enjoy your homemade Pata Tim!
