Traditionally, Paatag refers to a gathering where a group of people comes together to help one another without asking for payment, receiving only a hearty and abundant meal in return. It is a symbol of unity, generosity, and shared hard work.

Kasama sa kasabihan ng mga taga-Quezon Province, lalo na ng mga Infantahin, na kapag napakaraming nilutong pagkain ay sinasabing, “Para kang may Paatag.” It represents a table filled with blessings, laughter, and food prepared to be shared with many.

That “Paatag” came from the rich culture of helping one another — where food becomes a reward, a celebration, and a way of bringing people together.
