MGA KABABAYAN, LET'S GO TO KABAYAN

Kabayan is a peaceful mountain municipality in the eastern part of Benguet. Surrounded by forests, rolling hills, and cool mountain air, it is one of the Cordillera's most beautiful places. The town is home to the Ibaloi people, who have preserved their rich culture and traditions for generations.

Kabayan is best known for its famous Fire Mummies, one of the country's most important cultural treasures. Hundreds of years ago, the Ibaloi practiced a unique way of preserving their dead through a traditional mummification process. Today, these well-preserved mummies are kept inside ancient burial caves, attracting visitors and researchers from around the world.

The municipality is also one of the main gateways to Mount Pulag, the third-highest mountain in the Philippines. Many hikers pass through Kabayan to experience the mountain's breathtaking sunrise and the famous "sea of clouds."

Aside from Mount Pulag, Kabayan is blessed with beautiful natural attractions, including Lake Tabeo, Lake Ambulalakao, Lake Inkolos, and Lake Ngapoh. These mountain lakes offer peaceful surroundings that are perfect for camping, sightseeing, and enjoying nature.

Farming is the main source of livelihood in Kabayan. Local farmers grow highland vegetables, rice, root crops, and Arabica coffee. Despite modern developments, the community continues to value and preserve its Ibaloi traditions, making Kabayan a place where culture and everyday life remain closely connected.
