Also known as the Kalaw Kawayan, the Philippine Coucal is a large, crow-like bird with deep chestnut wings and a distinctive low, booming call that echoes through the forests of Magallanes, Cavite. Often found in thick shrubs and bamboo thickets near our resort, this elusive bird is a fascinating part of our local wildlife. Keep your ears tuned, you might just hear its haunting call! 🎶🍃

The Brahminy Kite, or Lawin in Filipino, is a striking raptor with a white head and chestnut brown wings, often seen gliding gracefully over forests and open fields. A symbol of strength and freedom, this bird of prey can sometimes be spotted in the skies above Magallanes, Cavite, including near our resort. It plays an important role in the ecosystem as a scavenger and hunter. Keep your eyes on the sky — you might just catch a glimpse! 🔭🌿

The Yellow-vented Bulbul is a cheerful, energetic bird you’ll often hear singing around the resort. Easily recognized by its brown body, white cheeks, and bright yellow patch under its tail, this feathered friend is a regular in gardens and open woodlands, including here in Magallanes, Cavite! A wonderful reminder that even the most common birds bring life and song to our surroundings. 🎶💛

The Oriental Whip Snake is a common sight in the forests and gardens of Magallanes, Cavite, and yes, you might spot one gracefully moving through the trees at our resort. With its bright green body and sharp snout, it may look intimidating, but don’t worry, it's completely non-venomous and harmless to humans. In fact, it helps keep the balance in nature by feeding on insects and small reptiles. A fascinating part of our local wildlife! 💚

The Philippine Hornbill, or Kalaw, is a striking and culturally significant bird known for its loud, echoing call that once signaled time to early settlers. Though sightings are rare due to habitat loss, they are still known to roam the forested areas of Cavite, including Magallanes. With its large beak and majestic flight, the Kalaw is a symbol of the rich biodiversity we’re proud to help protect. 🦅💚

Have you heard the loud ‘TUKO! TUKO!’ call at night? 👂🦎 That’s the Tokay Gecko, or Tuko, as we call it locally. This brightly colored, vocal lizard is native to the Philippines and often spotted clinging to walls or trees around the resort. While it may look fierce and sound loud, the tuko plays an important role in controlling insect populations. A true symbol of tropical nights in Magallanes, Cavite! 🌙🌿

Spotted in nature! 🌿🐍 The Long-tailed Grass Lizard, known for its incredibly long tail, sometimes up to 3 times its body length, can be found in Magallanes, Cavite, and right here in our resort grounds! Often mistaken for a small snake at first glance, this agile lizard is harmless and helps keep insect populations in check. Keep your eyes peeled while exploring, you might just see one darting through the grass! 🦎
