Did you know:
It was Greek American businessman Tom Carvel who invented soft serve ice cream.
A bad luck became a blessing for him when his truck had a flat tire while selling ice cream on Memorial Day in 1934. In order to sell what is left of his ice cream to vacationers, he rented electricity from a potter's store. In 1936, he bought the potter's stand and established himself as the nation's first retailer of soft serve ice cream. That same year, he patented a "no air pump, super low ice cream machine, developed a secret soft serve ice cream formula, and introduced the marketing concept "buy one get one free." It was in 1939 when he built the first soft serve ice cream machine.
At the time of his death in 1990, he has 400 around the world.
