⚔️ The Last Stand of the 300 Spartans ⚔️
In 480 BC, King Leonidas I and approximately 300 Spartan warriors stood at the narrow pass of Thermopylae against the invading Persian army led by King Xerxes I.
For days, they held back a force that was vastly larger, giving the Greek city-states precious time to prepare their defenses. Eventually, a hidden mountain path allowed the Persians to surround them. Knowing there was no escape, Leonidas and his men chose to fight to the very end.
Their sacrifice became one of history's greatest symbols of courage, duty, and standing firm against overwhelming odds.
"Come and take them." — A phrase traditionally associated with the Spartans' defiance.
