As we remember our loved ones this coming All Souls Day, we would like to look back and celebrate the woman who started it all—Nanay Julita Condez.

Nanay Julita's Kakanin sa Tahanan is a small-scale business founded in honor of Julita Condez. She was a petite, mestiza woman born in the 1930s who sustained her three sons by selling kakanin.

As a mother, she showed passion in her craft by collecting banana leaves every day and preparing malagkit rice in the morning's early hours to peddle kakanin under the sun's harsh rays.

This is our story. By uplifting the homemade kakanin tradition in the Philippines, our family honors Nanay Julita's legacy.
