MEET OUR YOUNG MAESTROS | Rey John C. Flores, 22 (flute)

Rey John C. Flores is a flutist from the University of the Philippines Diliman, College of Music, where he studies under Mrs. Crystal Rodis-Concepción. His musical journey began at the age of six with Banda 69 of Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria, Bulacan, and later with Kapisanan Banda 11 in the same town. From 2013 to 2021, he served as the flute principal of the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth, performing across the Philippines and internationally at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center in Malaysia, as well as the Katara Royal Opera House and Qatar National Library in Qatar. He has also performed with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, Manila Symphony Orchestra, Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra, Fil-Kor Youth Orchestra, and Duyog Youth Orchestra Festival.

Currently, he serves as a flute and alto saxophone soloist of the Manila City Band under the Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila (DTCAM) of the City Government of Manila. He is also a casual member of Banda 31 Kapisanan Ligaya, Pandacan Community Band, and Los Estudiantes Band. Trained under esteemed flutists Ms. Jina Suh and Mr. “Kiko” Candelaria, he continues to pursue musical excellence, performing with expressive depth and technical precision in both solo and ensemble settings.
