MY LIFE WITH HASAN ALJAZZAAR MEAT TRADING ๐๐
Building a business one kilometer, one animal, and one lesson at a time.
People usually see the finished productโthe fresh meat in the shop, the deliveries, the advertisements, and the animals arriving.
But behind Hasan Aljazzaar Meat Trading is a journey that many people don't see.
Saturday, August 22 โ 2:30 AM
I woke up, picked up my beloved brother, and we started driving from Manila to San Carlos, Pangasinan, to attend a livestock auction.
We arrived a little after 6:00 AM.
We were already late.
There was almost nothing left for us to buy. Being the only foreigners and people of color there at the time, unfortunately, some people also made fun of us.
But we didn't drive all that distance just to turn around and go home.
We changed the plan.
Instead of depending only on livestock auctions, we started driving through Pangasinan, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija, looking for backyard raisers and meeting farmers directly.
House to house.
Barangay to barangay.
Farm to farm.
By the end of the day, we had gathered 14 heads.
That night, we slept in our warehouse without electricity.
Alhamdulillah in every situation.

Sunday โ 2:00 AM
We were up again.
This time we headed to another livestock auction in Malasiqui, Pangasinan.
We arrived around 3:00 AMโand nobody was there.
We actually went to the police station to ask for directions because we thought we were lost. ๐
The police told us:
"You're too early."
So we drove around 10 minutes looking for a masjid.
The masjid was still closed, so we waited outside until it was opened for us. We stayed there until Salah, prayed Fajr around 4:40 AM, and then returned to the livestock market.
As daylight came, people slowly started arriving.
Unfortunately, once again, we experienced people making fun of us and behavior that felt racist.
We decided there was no reason to waste our time arguing.
We left.
Back on the road.
From Pangasinan, we drove toward Nueva Ecija and returned to the strategy that had worked the day before:
Buying directly from backyard raisers.
From around 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, we managed to gather another 13 heads of goats and lambs.
