Hello there!
As today marks our 2nd month of operation, Iโd like to give you an insight on how โThe Silly Spatulaโ came to be. Basically, itโs just so you know where what youโre eating comes from. Itโs always good to know that, donโt you agree?
This is on the long side, but read on if youโre interested ๐
To begin, my nameโs D. Iโm an HRM graduate and I was an OFW in SG for about 15 years before I came home last June 2023. Work aside, my main pastime in life is to feed people & see the looks on their faces when they try something that Iโve made with my own two hands๐ My wife Khajel, flat mates, colleagues & our circle of friends in SG were the unsuspecting test subjects of my food experiments. They always let me know (very vocally) whether or not theyโd enjoyed something that Iโd made for them. The spreads & dips that youโre (hopefully, with fingers & toes crossed) enjoying now, are those that made the cut, so to speak.
Anyway, after a countless number of charcuteries boards prepared for different occasions at home & loads of different kinds of chips, โThe Silly Spatulaโ started when I shared the food business idea with my cousin, JR and sisters, Dondi & Nikki.
According to Nikki (she designed the logo), the โSillyโ part is an allusion to my love of chilies (in Tagalog, sili or sile, Iโm really not sure which is right) and the โSpatulaโ part is because I always cook with an array of silicone spatulas. | TIP: A silicone spatula wonโt scratch your pan & youโll be able to scrape all the sides thoroughly (just sayinโ)
From our label, you already know that our products are handmade. They are also literally homemade, because haha, theyโre made in a kitchen at our home. Weโve taken the best ingredients we could source & weโre practicing the most stringent safety/hygiene precautions we can take, to make our products. | FYI: Ate Dondi is an orthodontist/dentist and sheโs a stickler about this
Since September 28, 2023 weโve all been working hard to get โThe Silly Spatulaโ off the ground & into the market. JR (his for real job is in the corporate world), is our marketer extraordinaire & heโs taken on the task, pardon the pun, of spreading the word about us.
