Egg yolk color is determined primarily by what a hen eats, not by the color of the shell or the farming method alone.
Diets low in natural pigments produce pale yellow yolks, while feeds rich in carotenoids from grass, marigold, vegetables, paprika, and other pigment-rich ingredients create deeper orange or red-orange yolks.
