fresh avoo-ca-doo

That’s what my kids would always say when they see them at our dining table — colorful food palette on a Saturday morning.

The avocado was from a vendor who knocked at our door to offer these yummy “lagkitan” avocados 🥑 last Sunday. I am always a skeptic when it comes to avocados, it’s usually hard to find a good variety. This one is really good 👍

A Father’s Day treat!

The father of our home does not ask for much, he does not like gifts and stuff that most fathers like. It’s eating together that he loves the most.

So today we honor him with food
… we cooked his 2 most favorite dishes for lunch: sinigang and chopsuey
… we had oatmeal champorado for breakfast with fried tuyo that’s perfect for our weather
… someone sent his favorite biko for merienda
… had some sinfully sweet cakes and ice cream for desserts

🍮 life is good and we are grateful for the gift of having one awesomely different tatay

❤️❤️❤️

D best for one ☔️ morning

I love almondigas and think that Pancake House has one of the best recipe. This morning I tried making my own best almondigas recipe. Meatballs fried in coconut oil then sautéed in garlic, onion and ginger. I used sayote dahil walang patola, added nori and sesame oil for extra flavor, breakfast issues solved.

Surprise, surprise!

I love surprising myself on what I can cook for bfast on a Saturday morning when I do not have to rush. So what’s the product of the old stuff I have in my pantry and more or less 2 hours of cooking?

Guinataang munggo! Here’s my take of a pinoy classic, though I am missing the burnt flavor because I used red beans from the jar. I compensated the flavor by adding sesame seeds and bilo-bilo, and what you can’t see is another twist in flavor - cinnamon powder 🙂
