๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ HELP US FIND ANTOINETTE FORBES: A TROUBLING PAST COLLIDES WITH A MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE

The search continues for Antoinette Forbes, a 53-year-old Washington, D.C. mother of Filipino descent who has been missing since September 4, 2026.

Her disappearance has become increasingly concerning as investigators examine events across Washington, D.C., Maryland and Pennsylvania โ€” while her former partner, Russell Ashford, remains in custody on charges unrelated to her disappearance.

D.C. police say Antoinette was last seen in the 3200 block of Nebraska Avenue NW on September 4.

Her disappearance immediately raised alarm among those close to her.

Friends and family said her phones, wallet, purse and keys were left at her home. Her dog was also there, while her car remained parked outside.

Her loved ones say disappearing without these belongings โ€” and without her son โ€” would be completely out of character.

Police have been examining her home and surrounding area as the investigation continues.

The case has also brought renewed attention to Antoinetteโ€™s history with her former partner and the father of her 10-year-old son, Russell Ashford.

Court records reported by NBC Washington show Ashford previously pleaded guilty to assaulting Forbes in Maryland in connection with a 2021 attack.

According to those records, Forbes suffered permanent injuries to her eye and hand.

Her family has publicly described the assault as brutal and expressed frustration over how the earlier case was handled.

Following Antoinetteโ€™s disappearance, authorities were also trying to locate her son and Ashford.

Investigators used license-plate reader data to trace Ashfordโ€™s movements between Pennsylvania, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Police eventually stopped him in Brighton Township, Pennsylvania.

Antoinetteโ€™s 10-year-old son was inside the vehicle and was found safe and unharmed. Authorities later returned the child to family.

Ashford was arrested over an alleged probation violation connected to the earlier assault case.

He had been expected to face extradition proceedings relating to Maryland.

But then investigators uncovered another case.

Police reportedly recovered seven fi****ms.

CBS reported the weapons included two pistols, two sh****ns and three ri**es.

Authorities allege Ashford was prohibited from possessing fi****ms because of his criminal record and probation conditions.

๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ PRISON BREAK BY DRONE? SOUTH KOREAN DRUG KINGPINโ€™S EXTRAORDINARY ESCAPE PLOT REVEALED

A South Korean prisoner allegedly planned one of the most unusual jailbreaks imaginable from the Philippinesโ€™ New Bilibid Prison โ€” using a heavy-lift drone capable of carrying a person over the prison walls.

According to reporting by South Korean broadcaster JTBC, accomplices even conducted a real-world rehearsal using a powerful drone and a human test passenger.

WHO IS PARK WANG-YEOL?

Park Wang-yeol, a South Korean national imprisoned in the Philippines, was convicted over the killings of three South Koreans and sentenced to decades behind bars.

South Korean authorities have also accused him of involvement in a major drug trafficking operation allegedly run while he was incarcerated in the Philippines.

Despite being behind bars, investigators allege Park maintained connections with people outside prison.

THE ALLEGED PLAN: FLY OVER THE WALL

Forget digging a tunnel or hiding inside a delivery truck.

According to JTBCโ€™s reporting, Parkโ€™s associates obtained a heavy-duty industrial drone powerful enough to lift a human being.

The equipment reportedly cost around US$74,000.

The idea was extraordinary: Park would allegedly attach himself to the drone and be physically lifted over the walls of New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

THEY EVEN REHEARSED IT

This reportedly wasnโ€™t just an idea discussed among accomplices.

Video obtained by JTBC reportedly shows a test in which a person was actually lifted and carried by the heavy-lift drone over a body of water in the Philippines.

The exact location of the rehearsal has not been publicly established.

The test was reportedly designed to determine whether the drone could safely carry the weight of a person before attempting the actual prison escape.

A VERY PUBLIC TEST

The unusual sight reportedly attracted attention, with footage of a person dangling beneath a huge drone circulating publicly.

What may initially have looked like a bizarre stunt potentially had a much more serious purpose.

Authorities reportedly investigated the drone and people connected with the test as concerns grew that it was linked to Parkโ€™s network.

WHY WAS HE ALLEGEDLY DESPERATE TO ESCAPE?

The plot was reportedly being prepared in early 2024, shortly before Park was due to be transferred temporarily to South Korean custody.

He was scheduled to return to South Korea on March 25, 2024, where authorities wanted him in connection with separate allegations involving methamphetamine trafficking.

The alleged drone escape therefore came at a critical moment โ€” just before he was expected to leave Philippine custody for proceedings in South Korea.

AUTHORITIES FOIL THE PLAN

The escape never happened.

According to the South Korean reporting, intelligence gathered around the drone tests and Parkโ€™s associates ultimately exposed the alleged operation.

Security surrounding Park was tightened and the proposed jailbreak was prevented.

โ€œSOMEONE LIKE MEโ€ฆโ€

JTBC also reported accounts from fellow inmates claiming Park had previously considered a more conventional escape involving an attack on a prison transport vehicle.

But the drone plan was reportedly considered more appropriate for the scale of escape he envisioned.

One particularly striking remark attributed to Park by fellow inmates was:

โ€œA prison escape by someone like me should be on this scale.โ€

The quotation is an allegation attributed to inmates interviewed in the South Korean report, rather than a publicly verified statement directly from Park.

WHY ARE WE HEARING ABOUT THIS NOW?

Although the alleged escape preparations date back to 2024, the extraordinary details have only emerged publicly much later.

JTBCโ€™s reporting has brought renewed attention to the case, including footage allegedly showing the human-carrying drone being tested.

The case also raises serious questions about prison security, inmate communications and how a high-profile prisoner could allegedly coordinate such an elaborate operation with people outside.

WHERE IS PARK NOW

Following the foiled drone escape plot, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung personally requested diplomatic cooperation from Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

This resulted in Park being flown out of the Philippines and extradited via Incheon International Airport under heavy police es**rt on March 25, 2024

Some of the most dramatic details surrounding the alleged drone escape come from South Korean media reporting, intelligence information and accounts attributed to inmates and associates.

Not every element has been independently established in publicly available Philippine court records.

But if the reported plot sounds like something from an action movie, thatโ€™s because the basic allegation really is that extraordinary:

Buy a giant drone. Test it with a person. Then attempt to fly a prisoner straight over the walls of New Bilibid.

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ CATHOLIC BISHOPS CONDEMN CONTROVERSIAL โ€˜PRIEST AND NUNโ€™ JOKE

The Catholic Bishopsโ€™ Conference of Malaysia (CBCM) has strongly criticized a controversial joke involving a Catholic priest and nun, saying remarks involving religious figures have no place at official gatherings.

In a statement issued on September 16, 2026, the bishops expressed concern over comments reportedly made by an Umno division chief, describing the joke as inappropriate and hurtful.

The CBCM stressed that priests and religious sisters hold important spiritual roles within the Catholic community and should not be turned into material for jokes that could demean their vocation or religious identity.

The bishops said such remarks are particularly inappropriate when made during official or public functions, where speakers carry a greater responsibility to respect Malaysiaโ€™s diverse communities.

The bishops also placed the controversy in the wider context of Malaysiaโ€™s multi-racial and multi-religious society.

They warned that insensitive remarks involving any religion can cause unnecessary hurt and undermine the mutual respect that is essential in a diverse country.

Their message was simple: public discourse should bring Malaysians together, not make another communityโ€™s faith the punchline.

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿšจ 101 ILLEGAL WILD ANIMALS SEIZED IN SINGAPORE RAID

Singapore authorities have seized 101 illegally kept wild animals after coordinated raids on six residential premises across the country.

The operation by Singaporeโ€™s National Parks Board (NParks) on September 14, 2026 was reportedly the countryโ€™s largest wildlife raid since 2021, when around 120 animals were confiscated.

The animals included exotic and non-native species such as:

โ€ข Tarantulas
Ball pythons
Rosy boas
Sugar gliders
Leopard geckos
Axolotls
Pig-nosed turtles

Many were allegedly being kept inside cramped containers and acrylic enclosures in residential homes.

Authorities said 13 animals were already dead when officers carried out the raids.

One severely emaciated leopard gecko was later euthanized because of serious infections.

The surviving animals were transferred to the NParks Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation, where they are being quarantined, treated and monitored.

They may eventually be assessed for repatriation or placement with licensed animal establishments.

Under Singaporeโ€™s Wildlife Act, illegal wildlife trading can carry substantial fines and possible imprisonment.

Penalties can be even heavier when internationally protected species covered by CITES are involved.

The case highlights another challenge facing authorities: the exotic-pet trade can operate quietly inside ordinary residential properties and through online platforms.

๐ŸˆTRAVIS KELCE NAMED VICTIM IN MULTI-MILLION-DOLLAR PONZI SCHEME

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has been publicly identified as a victim of a massive investment fraud that raised more than US$35 million from investors.

Investment adviser Siddharth Jawahar has now been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to three counts of wire fraud.

Jawahar was also ordered to pay approximately US$31.35 million in restitution to his victims.

The fraud involved his Texas-based investment firm, Swiftarc Capital LLC, and activity stretching from 2016 to 2023.

Federal prosecutors said investors entrusted Jawahar with tens of millions of dollars, believing their money would be properly managed.

According to reports citing prosecutors, Jawahar raised more than US$35 million, but only around US$10 million was actually invested as represented.

Prosecutors said an extraordinary 99% of invested funds were eventually concentrated in a single Pakistani to***co company whose stock performed poorly.

Investors were allegedly shown fabricated account information making it appear their investments were generating profits.

Authorities said millions were instead diverted to Jawaharโ€™s lifestyle, including private jet travel, upscale apartments, expensive restaurants and other personal and luxury expenses.

The operation functioned as a Ponzi-style scheme, with investor money misused while clients were given a false picture of their financial positions.

Kelce wasnโ€™t accused of doing anything wrong โ€” he was an investor and a victim.

He reportedly made an early investment in the Swiftarc Venture Labs Fund.

Federal prosecutors publicly confirmed during Jawaharโ€™s sentencing hearing that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was among those victimized.

However, Kelceโ€™s exact financial loss has NOT been publicly disclosed.

Jawahar has been ordered to pay approximately US$31.35 million to victims.

The case shows that wealth and celebrity status donโ€™t necessarily protect someone from sophisticated investment fraud, particularly when financial statements and investment performance are deliberately misrepresented.

๐Ÿ“Œ Kelce is a victim in this case and has not been accused of participating in the fraudulent scheme.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ  333 NEW HOMES IN VALENZUELA โ€” BUT HOUSING MUST COME WITH JOBS

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has turned over 333 housing units at Disiplina Village in Barangay Arkong Bato, Valenzuela City.

The units are spread across seven low-rise buildings and are intended for qualified families, including informal settlers previously living along the Tullahan River and other danger-prone waterways. (Philippine News Agency)

Moving families away from flood-prone communities and into safer housing is important.

But Philippine history also provides an important lesson:

A house alone does not necessarily lift a family out of poverty.

Thereโ€™s an old expression for something that looks useful but fails its basic purpose:

โ€œAs useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle.โ€

That description can apply to social housing when families receive homes but lose access to the jobs and livelihoods that allow them to pay for food, transport, utilities and everyday expenses.

Research on Philippine resettlement has repeatedly identified livelihood disruption, unemployment and access to employment as major problems when families are relocated.

๐Ÿ“ VALENZUELA HAS ONE BIG ADVANTAGE

The new Arkong Bato development is in-city housing.

That matters.

Instead of relocating Metro Manila families many kilometres away to Bulacan, Cavite or other peripheral areas, beneficiaries remain inside Valenzuela.

The government also says the development is near schools and health facilities.

Keeping families closer to their existing communities, employment opportunities, schools and transport networks can address some of the problems historically associated with distant relocation.

BUT WHERE ARE THE JOBS?

The next question should be:

What happens after families receive the keys?

Housing policy cannot end at the front door.

Families still need sustainable income.

That means housing developments should ideally be connected with:

โœ… Employment opportunities
โœ… TESDA skills training
โœ… DOLE livelihood and job-placement programs
โœ… Small-business and microenterprise support
โœ… Affordable transportation
โœ… Nearby schools and childcare
โœ… Healthcare and basic services

This isnโ€™t simply criticism of government housing.

DHSUD itself has previously acknowledged that stable employment and sustainable livelihood are crucial to making government housing programs work. It partnered with TESDA specifically to provide skills training intended to match beneficiaries with industries near housing developments.

For years, the Philippines experimented with moving low-income families away from Metro Manila into cheaper housing developments on the urban fringe.

The problem was simple:

People donโ€™t only need somewhere to sleep. They need somewhere to earn.

Research has documented how distant relocation can mean longer commutes, higher transport costs and reduced access to employment. Philippine studies have also recorded cases in which relocatees leave housing projects and move closer to workplaces and schools.

That is why in-city housing, like the Valenzuela model, deserves particular attention.

The strongest model isnโ€™t simply:

Build โ†’ Turn over keys โ†’ Take photos โ†’ Move on.

It is:

Housing โ†’ Skills โ†’ Employment โ†’ Livelihood โ†’ Sustainable community.

PIDS researchers have likewise stressed that resettlement should include basic services, including access to employment opportunities and affordable housing. Their assessment work has actually included an earlier Disiplina Village development in Valenzuela among the projects examined.

The Arkong Bato project itself is much larger than this weekโ€™s turnover.

The first three phases contain the seven four-storey buildings and 333 units now awarded. The overall development is planned to eventually contain 20 buildings and 960 homes on a roughly 20,709-square-meter property.

That creates an opportunity to demonstrate what modern Philippine social housing can become.

Not simply rows of housing units.

But communities where people can live, work, study, earn and build a future.

Giving a struggling family a safe home can be life-changing.

But sustainable social housing requires more than concrete walls and a roof.

Shelter without economic opportunity risks transferring poverty from one address to another.

The real measure of the 333 homes in Valenzuela wonโ€™t simply be how many keys were handed over this week.

It will be whether, years from now, those 333 families are still there โ€” safely housed, employed and economically secure.

That is when a housing project becomes a community.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บโœˆ๏ธ AUSTRALIA CAN HELP SOME MIGRANTS LEAVE โ€” INCLUDING FLIGHTS AND REINTEGRATION SUPPORT

Overstayed your Australian visa? On a bridging visa and planning to return home? In some circumstances, the Australian Government can help arrange and fund a voluntary departure.

Australia operates assistance through its Return and Reintegration Assistance Program (RRAP) and Status Resolution Service.

The idea is straightforward: help eligible non-citizens resolve their immigration status and return to their home country voluntarily rather than remaining unlawfully in Australia.

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?

The program operates under Australiaโ€™s Department of Home Affairs and is aimed at eligible non-citizens who need assistance to leave Australia.

This can include some people who have overstayed their visas, people without a valid visa and certain bridging-visa holders.

Importantly, assistance is not automatically available to everyone. Eligibility and the amount or type of assistance depend on the personโ€™s individual circumstances.

YOUR FLIGHT HOME MAY BE COVERED

For eligible participants, assistance can include arranging and paying for travel from Australia to their country of return.

This can include the airfare and necessary travel arrangements associated with the journey.

For someone who wants to leave Australia but simply cannot afford the ticket, that can remove a major financial obstacle.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE MAY ALSO BE AVAILABLE

Some eligible participants can receive financial assistance to help them after returning home.

Government information released through parliamentary processes has previously detailed assistance reaching up to A$7,500 in certain circumstances.

But this should NOT be interpreted as Australia simply handing every visa overstayer A$7,500 to leave.

The amount depends on eligibility, circumstances and the assistance package approved for the individual.

HELP REBUILDING LIFE BACK HOME

The assistance doesnโ€™t necessarily end when the plane lands.

Depending on the personโ€™s circumstances and destination, reintegration assistance can potentially help with things such as:

โ€ข Accommodation and basic living needs
Employment assistance
Education or vocational training
Starting or supporting a small business
Other services intended to help someone re-establish themselves

The objective is to make a voluntary return more sustainable and reduce the likelihood that a person returns home with no practical means of rebuilding their life.

Another problem can be documentation.

Someone who has been living in Australia for years may have an expired passport or difficulty obtaining the documents required to travel.

Return-assistance providers can work with participants to organise travel arrangements and help address documentation requirements.

WHY WOULD AUSTRALIA PAY FOR THIS?

At first glance, taxpayers paying for someoneโ€™s flight โ€” and potentially providing additional assistance โ€” might sound unusual.

But there is a practical policy argument behind voluntary-return programs.

Immigration detention, enforcement and involuntary removal can involve significant government resources.

A person who agrees to leave voluntarily may potentially avoid parts of that enforcement process while resolving their immigration status.

OVERSTAYING A VISA IS STILL SERIOUS

The existence of return assistance does not mean Australia ignores visa overstaying.

A person whose visa has expired can become an unlawful non-citizen and may face immigration detention and removal.

Overstaying can also affect future Australian visa applications and, depending on the circumstances, potentially result in an exclusion period.

Anyone in this situation should therefore contact the Department of Home Affairs or obtain qualified immigration advice rather than assuming they automatically qualify for financial assistance.

VOLUNTARY RETURN RATHER THAN FORCED REMOVAL

Ultimately, the program offers another pathway for eligible people who have reached the end of their stay in Australia.

Instead of waiting until immigration authorities detain and remove them, some people can work with the government to organise their departure and potentially receive assistance rebuilding their lives after returning home.

It isnโ€™t simply โ€œAustralia pays visa overstayers A$7,500 to go home.โ€

The reality is more nuanced:

Australia may fund travel and provide tailored return and reintegration assistance to eligible non-citizens who voluntarily agree to leave the country.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿšœ AUSTRALIAโ€™S FARM LABOUR CRUNCH: BACKPACKER VISA PAUSE HITS AHEAD OF HARVEST

Australian farmers are warning of serious labour shortages just weeks before major grain, fruit and other harvests get underway.

The Federal Government has temporarily paused new first-time Work and Holiday (subclass 462) applications from 24 partner countries, while processing across the broader Working Holiday Maker program has also slowed.

For farms heavily dependent on overseas seasonal workers, the timing is causing growing concern.

Farmers and contractors say they have jobs ready โ€” but some overseas workers are still waiting for visas.

Victorian harvest contractor Matt Bourke told ABC he planned to employ around 30 workers for the upcoming grain harvest.

Many had worked for him previously.

But as of mid-September, he said not one of the working holiday visas he was waiting on had been approved.

The National Farmersโ€™ Federation estimates overseas workers account for about half of Australiaโ€™s casual workforce during peak harvest periods.

The problem extends beyond picking and packing fruit.

Grain and cotton operations can require experienced workers capable of operating expensive and highly specialised agricultural machinery.

Dairy farms, mango farms and other regional businesses also rely heavily on international workers.

Farmers argue these workers often fill seasonal positions that are difficult to recruit locally.

Home Affairs says demand for the Work and Holiday program is strong.

Under subclass 462, individual countries have annual caps.

Applications can be temporarily paused when a countryโ€™s allocation is nearing capacity, to spread applications throughout the program year, or to support the Governmentโ€™s broader migration settings.

Home Affairs has also warned that Working Holiday Maker applications may take longer than usual and can be finalised outside published processing timeframes.

The changes come as the Federal Government seeks to reduce net overseas migration.

The Philippines is not among the 24 paused countries.

But that does not mean Filipinos can currently lodge applications under an established Philippine subclass 462 allocation.

Australia and the Philippines have agreed to establish a Work and Holiday arrangement, but the program still needs to become operational before eligible Filipino passport holders can begin using it.

So the Philippines is effectively in a different situation from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand: it isnโ€™t listed as โ€œpausedโ€ because its Work and Holiday arrangement has not yet reached the normal application stage.

Agricultural groups are urging Canberra to consider the consequences for regional Australia before the summer harvest peak.

Their concern is straightforward: crops do not wait for visa processing.

If workers cannot arrive when harvesting begins, farmers may face longer hours, higher labour costs and difficulty getting crops harvested at the optimal time.

The Government, meanwhile, says reforms are intended to better manage demand and ensure the Working Holiday Maker program remains sustainable.

With harvest approaching, the practical impact of those changes is now being tested across regional Australia.

๐Ÿ“Œ NOTE: Visa settings and country-cap statuses can change. Prospective applicants should check the Australian Department of Home Affairs for the latest official status before making travel or employment arrangements.
