Our Ceylon Cinnamon gifting packs are finally ready!

Thanks to a suggestion from one of our first and loyal customers, we have created our holiday packs for gifting.

Enjoy Alba at 480PHP for a 40g pack of (the World's Finest) Ceylon Cinnamon - perfect for cocktails etc.

Our 40g C5 pack is 270PHP - C5 is stronger in aroma, and the second most valuable Ceylon Cinnamon grade - great for bakes or coffee.

All orders of 3 or more packs (in any combination) will enjoy a 10% discount as well.

For those those who prefer the original jars, the jars are available too (at 499 and 299PHP respectively). Please note, for orders outside Metro Manila, we usually send packs for safety.

When it comes to Ceylon Cinnamon, "to grind or not to grind" - that is the question.

Truth is, grinding cinnamon to a powder releases cinnamon oil from the bark - so it guarantees you enjoy every drop of flavor in your cinnamon.

But, before you race to the grinder - remember it also shortens the life of your Ceylon Cinnamon.

Ground (powdered) cinnamon has a shelf life of 6 to 12 months, while quills guard their flavor for at least 2 years - sometimes up to 4.

So, what's the verdict? Get quills for freshness, and grind when you need them.

Oh, and we heard you. Many of our customers ask if we have powdered Ceylon Cinnamon - well, we don't.

Because quills last longer and are guaranteed to be pure.

But soon, when you purchase a jar of Alba or C5, we hope to offer you the complimentary option of grinding it - just before you receive it.

So, far as possible, you get the best of both worlds.

How long does Ceylon Cinnamon last?

As sticks, if stored in an airtight, moisture-free container, expect freshness for 2 to 3 years.

There is no set 'expiry date' but usually after around 3 to 5 years, the flavor may be less pronounced and aroma reduced.

But no, it doesn't go 'bad' or become poisonous - using a 10-year old cinnamon stick won't make you sick, only perhaps disappointed!

Watch out for fungus though, and discard immediately if you do see any signs on the sticks as these could be very harmful.

Which is why, all our jars are sterilized and dried thoroughly before packing and sealing.

Keep moisture, airflow and contaminants away, and cinnamon sticks should last you a long time.

Note: This doesn't apply to Cinnamon powder, as once ground, its oils are released from the bark. The powder then needs to be consumed relatively quicker than sticks, or it will lose freshness and flavor.

Alba is more delicate and milder in taste than other varieties of Ceylon Cinnamon, including our other premium grade (C5).

It's also the most expensive grade of Ceylon Cinnamon, and the 'finest cinnamon in the world' (source: multiple online, including Al Jazeera https://tinyurl.com/4bjvwuv6 ).

When should you not pick Alba?

If you like a warmer, somewhat stronger taste of Cinnamon in your coffee or tea, then C5 is a better option.

But for cocktails, medicinal products - where you want it to dissolve easily - and for gifts, Alba remains the premier option
