From the depths of the seas to the richness of the soil, there are people who are often taken for granted.

This May, we celebrate those who rise before the sun—the farmers who tirelessly cultivate the soil under the heat of the day and the fisherfolk who brave the tides just so we have food on our table. Their harvest and catch are more than just a livelihood; they reflect a life-long dedication to nourishing us all. So, ka-gulay, when you see a farmer or a fisherman, take a moment to thank them.

Mr. Nabe, a farmer cooperator of the project, shared his practical experiences on soil conditioning through the use of green manure crops, appropriate land preparation techniques, and fertilizer application, emphasizing these as essentials in maintaining soil fertility and sustainable crop production.

Through the lecture-discussion and hands-on fieldwork, the 27 farmer participants from the municipalities of Kibungan, Bakun, Kapangan, and Tublay gained knowledge and skills on sustainable practices in Sweet Pepper production.

Supporting one another can expand the impact of tomato grafting technology to a longer harvesting season and stable vegetable production.

𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗟𝗔—Levelling up the knowledge and skills of the caretakers of the KADIWA Store: Marketing Training for KADIWA Coordinators

A 2-day training, attended by the KADIWA coordinators and officers of the Department of Agriculture, was held on April 14-15, 2026. Emphasizing a customer-centric perspective, the marketing training is not only about selling for profit but also about communicating with customers and recognizing the customers' needs and preferences so that products are bought naturally. Through lectures, role-play, lively discussions, and group reporting focusing on the different personas involved in operating a KADIWA store, participants learned;

- The optimal communication with stakeholders as the primary caretakers of KADIWA stores
- The process for designing a campaign for KADIWA stores and
- The method for practicing a purposeful monitoring activity to gather insights and knowledge from stores and customers as a reference for improving the KADIWA ng PANGULO Program.

The Marketing Training for KADIWA Coordinators is the first part of the training with the MDD AMAS under MV2C’s Approach 4 Promotion of Vegetable Consumption through Life Skills and Health Support. Another training for cooperatives operating KADIWA stores is set for July 2026.
