PNP NABS 29 IN ANTI-ILLEGAL FISHING DRIVE; ₱10.12-M IN EQUIPMENT SEIZED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) sustained its nationwide campaign against illegal fishing after four separate maritime law enforcement operations conducted from July 4 to the early hours of July 5, 2026 resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the confiscation of fishing vessels, prohibited fishing gear, and other equipment with a combined estimated value of ₱10.12 million.

The accomplishment supports the government's continuing efforts under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. In Cebu, personnel of the Cebu Maritime Law Enforcement Team (MLET) and the Regional Maritime Unit 7 conducted a seaborne patrol about 14 kilometers off Carnaza Island, Daanbantayan, on the morning of July 4. The operation led to the arrest of three Filipino crew members of a commercial fishing vessel and the confiscation of a medium-scale fishing vessel, fishing paraphernalia, around 300 kilograms of assorted fish, a GPS unit, and other equipment with an estimated value of ₱1.62 million.

Later that afternoon in the municipal waters of Orion, Bataan, personnel of the Orion Municipal Police Station, together with the local Bantay Dagat, conducted an anti-illegal fishing operation that resulted in the apprehension of 19 Filipino fishermen and the confiscation of a fishing boat valued at approximately ₱2.9 million. In accordance with applicable fisheries regulations, the violators were subsequently released after payment of the prescribed administrative fine.

In Zamboanga City, operatives of the Maritime Police Station conducted another seaborne patrol in the waters of Barangay Sangali on the evening of July 4. The operation resulted in the arrest of two Filipino suspects and the confiscation of a modified Danish seine, fishing nets, improvised fishing accessories, two boat engines, and four boxes of assorted fish. The seized fishing equipment was estimated at ₱1.6 million.

Meanwhile, in the seawaters off Barangay Malangabang, Concepcion, Iloilo, a joint operation by the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Unit 6, and the Bantay Dagat Task Force led to the arrest of five Filipino fishermen during the early hours of July 5. Authorities confiscated four fishing boats, fishing paraphernalia, and assorted fish with an estimated value of more than ₱4 million.
All arrested individuals are of legal age and are undergoing the appropriate legal process, while the confiscated items remain under the custody of the concerned operating units and partner agencies.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. lauded the operating personnel for their coordinated efforts in protecting the country's marine resources.

"Ang ating mga karagatan ay hindi lang likas na yaman—kabuhayan din ito ng napakaraming Pilipino. The Chief PNP also reminded coastal communities and those engaged in the fishing industry to continue observing fisheries laws and to work with authorities in preserving the country's marine environment.

PNP SUSTAINS SECURITY OPERATIONS ON THIRD DAY OF PUBLIC ASSEMBLY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to maintain security operations on the third day of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC)-led rally, with police personnel remaining deployed to ensure public safety, maintain peace and order, and facilitate the lawful exercise of the people's constitutional right to peaceful assembly.

As of 2:00 p.m. on July 2, the activity at Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila remained ongoing, with an estimated 2,300 participants at the venue. A total of 3,784 PNP personnel, together with partner agencies, remain strategically deployed in key areas to support security, traffic management, and public safety operations.

Following a continuing assessment of the security situation across the country, the PNP has downgraded the alert status to Heightened Alert in all Police Regional Offices effective 12:01 a.m. of July 2, while the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and Crame-based offices and units remain under Full Alert Status to ensure adequate security coverage as the activity continues.

The calibrated deployment enables the organization to sustain necessary security measures while allowing police units nationwide to continue delivering regular public safety services.

The ongoing security operations are being carried out in support of the administration of President Ferdinand R. TWO JOINT ANTI-SMUGGLING OPS NET OVER ₱104.6M; 7 NABBED FOR CUSTOMS LAW VIOLATION

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., dealt another blow to smuggling through two separate joint law enforcement operations in Palawan and Zamboanga del Sur, seizing over ₱104.6 million worth of suspected smuggled ci******es and arresting seven individuals for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

In Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, personnel of the 53rd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, discovered abandoned pump boats loaded with suspected smuggled ci******es while conducting seaborne patrol operations along the shoreline of Purok Tangigue, Barangay White Beach on June 30, 2026. Upon coordination by the 53rd Infantry Battalion, the Pagadian City Police Station, together with the Zamboanga del Sur Maritime Police Station, Zamboanga del Sur Police Intelligence Unit, 902nd Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and AFP personnel, conducted a joint operation to transport the recovered items to the nearest port before turning them over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition. Authorities recovered 611 master cases of assorted imported ci******es with an estimated value of ₱96,433,347.92, along with one truck container van. The ci******es and truck were turned over to the Bureau of Customs Region IX, while five paddle boats and one motorized pump boat remained under the custody of the 53rd Infantry Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, Philippine Army. The recovered items were properly inventoried in the presence of a Bureau of Customs Acting Examiner.

In a separate operation on June 29, 2026, personnel of the 2nd Special Operations Unit–Maritime Group Balabac Seaborne Company, together with the Provincial Intelligence Unit, Sofronio Española Municipal Police Station, Brooke’s Point Municipal Police Station, 1st Palawan Provincial Mobile Force Company, Peace Security Cluster Aborlan, Bureau of Customs, and RMU-4B Rizal MLET, conducted a joint law enforcement operation at King Paradise Island, Barangay Labog, Sofronio Española, Palawan. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven suspects and the confiscation of 6,498 reams of suspected smuggled ci******es valued at ₱8,252,460.00. The arrested suspects, together with the confiscated ci******es, were brought to the Balabac Seaborne Company–Brooke’s Point Annex for documentation and proper disposition.

“Smuggling fuels illicit trade, deprives the government of lawful revenues, and undermines fair business competition. The PNP will continue to strengthen intelligence-driven enforcement and work closely with partner agencies to stop these illegal activities and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” said PGEN Nartatez.

OVER ₱26.7-M WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZED IN SEPARATE OPERATIONS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded another series of significant accomplishments in its intensified campaign against illegal drugs after separate operations conducted on June 30, 2026 resulted in the confiscation of more than ₱26.7 million worth of suspected illegal drugs and the arrest of several drug personalities in different parts of the country.

In Kalinga, a ma*****na eradication operation led by local police units, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), resulted in the discovery, uprooting, and on-site destruction of around 10,000 fully grown ma*****na plants with an estimated standard drug price of ₱2 million. Authorities continue efforts to identify those responsible for the plantation.

Meanwhile, at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City, members of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group intercepted an inbound parcel containing approximately 2,385 grams of suspected methylenedioxymethamphetamine (M**A), commonly known as Ecstasy, valued at about ₱10.13 million, along with 942 suspected dangerous drug tablets. A legal-age United States national, identified as the consignee of the parcel, was arrested and turned over to the proper authorities for appropriate legal proceedings.

In Zamboanga Sibugay, a buy-bust operation carried out by joint police and PDEA operatives led to the arrest of three legal-age Filipino suspects and the confiscation of approximately 2 kilograms of suspected shabu with an estimated value of ₱13.6 million, along with buy-bust money and other pieces of evidence.

Another anti-drug operation in Davao City resulted in the arrest of one High-Value Individual (HVI) and the seizure of around 150 grams of suspected shabu worth approximately ₱1.02 million.

The accomplishments reflect the continuing implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, as the organization strengthens intelligence-driven and inter-agency efforts in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s campaign for safer and drug-free communities.

PNP CAPTURES REGION 2’s NO. 7 MOST WANTED FOR S*X CRIMES

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., intensified its campaign against wanted persons with the arrest of the No. 7 Regional Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) during a manhunt operation on July 1, 2026, in Brgy. Siguiran, Abulug, Cagayan.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Alo,” a 53-year-old Filipino male and fisherman from Abulug, Cagayan, was apprehended by joint operatives of the Abulug Police Station, Western Cagayan MARPSTA, 3rd Maneuver Force Platoon, and the 2nd Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company while implementing several warrants of arrest for multiple offenses involving the sexual abuse of minors.

The accused is facing two counts of Statutory R**e under Article 266-A(1)(d) in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 11648, both without recommended bail. He is likewise charged with two counts of R**e by Sexual Assault, with a recommended bail of Php200,000.00 for each count, and two counts of Lascivious Conduct under Section 5(b) of Republic Act No. 7610, as amended by RA 11648, carrying a recommended bail of Php180,000.00 for each count. The suspect also faces Acts of Lasciviousness and two counts of violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act No. 7610 or the Child Abuse Act. After his arrest, he was informed of his constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine and is now under the custody of the Abulug Police Station pending his turnover to the court that issued the warrants.

PNP CRACKS GUN DEAL, 2 FALL; HIGH-POWERED RIFLES, PNP-ISSUED PISTOL RECOVERED

Nartatez Jr., dealt another major blow against the illegal fi****ms trade after arresting two suspects and recovering two high-powered rifles and a PNP-issued caliber 9mm pistol during an entrapment operation on June 29, 2026, in Barangay Cabingan, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

Acting on intelligence information, operatives of the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, backed by specialized police units, conducted the entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 33-year-old male from Binidayan, Lanao del Sur and a 35-year-old male from Marawi City for violation of Section 32 of Republic Act No. 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Using boodle money topped with genuine currency amounting to PhP300,000.00, a police poseur-buyer successfully completed the transaction, prompting the immediate arrest of the suspects. Authorities confiscated two caliber 5.56 rifles, one PNP-issued caliber 9mm pistol, the buy-bust money, packaging materials, and one black pickup truck believed to have been used in the illegal transaction.. The suspects are now under the custody of the Marawi City Police Station, while the recovered evidence has been turned over to the Lanao del Sur Provincial Forensic Unit for examination and proper disposition.

PNP WELCOMES COURT RULING IN KIDNAPPING-FOR-RANSOM CASE, VOWS SUSTAINED FIGHT AGAINST KIDNAPPING

The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed the conviction of seven individuals in connection with a kidnapping-for-ransom case, describing the court's decision as a significant outcome of sustained police operations, solid case build-up, and close coordination among law enforcement and justice sector partners.

The decision was promulgated by a Regional Trial Court in Quezon City on June 30, 2026, less than a year after the kidnapping incident involving a businesswoman that occurred in September 2025.

Immediately after the incident, the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) launched intensive pursuit operations that led to the safe rescue of the victim nine days later. Within the first 24 hours of the operation, intelligence-driven police actions resulted in the arrest of several suspects, with a total of eleven individuals eventually taken into custody during the investigation. PNP RECOMMENDS ADDITIONAL CHARGES IN DROWNING CASE OF TWO UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL PLAYERS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced a significant development in the investigation into the tragic drowning of two members of a university men's basketball team during a team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora on June 8, 2026, with investigators recommending the filing of additional criminal charges as the case moves forward before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

While complaints for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 11053 or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018 had earlier been filed against the former team head coach, alias "Tab," and 11 other respondents, the investigation has likewise resulted in the recommendation to file cases for Homicide against alias "Tab" and Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Multiple Homicide against him and eight other respondents. PNP, DEPED PARTNERSHIP PROMOTES EARLY DETECTION, PREVENTS POTENTIAL OCCURRENCE OF SCHOOL INCIDENTS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has highlighted the importance of strengthened coordination between the PNP and the Department of Education (DepEd) following the swift response of police officers to a report involving a Grade 10 learner found carrying a firearm inside a school campus in Iloilo.

School personnel immediately notified the local police after discovering the firearm inside the learner's backpack during school hours. Responding officers promptly proceeded to the school, secured the firearm, ensured the safety of students and school personnel, and carried out the necessary child-sensitive intervention procedures.

The 15-year-old learner was placed under the appropriate child-sensitive intervention process and has been turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) for proper care and disposition, in accordance with existing child protection laws. The recovered caliber .38 revolver, loaded with six live ammunition rounds, remains in police custody for proper documentation and appropriate legal proceedings.

The PNP said the incident demonstrates the growing vigilance of teachers, school officials, and learners following recent incidents involving students in different parts of the country. "Ang pinakamahalaga rito ay nanatiling ligtas ang ating mga estudyante at mga g**o. Ang mabilis na pag-uulat ng paaralan at agarang pagresponde ng ating mga pulis ay patunay na kapag nagtutulungan ang komunidad at ang law enforcement, mas napoprotektahan natin ang ating mga kabataan."

The Chief PNP also encouraged schools and communities to continue fostering a culture of awareness and cooperation.

"Patuloy nating palakasin ang ugnayan ng mga paaralan, mga magulang, lokal na pamahalaan, at ng PNP. Huwag tayong mag-atubiling ipagbigay-alam ang anumang sitwasyong maaaring makaapekto sa kaligtasan ng ating mga estudyante. Sa ganitong paraan, sama-sama nating napapanatiling ligtas ang ating mga paaralan."

The PNP reaffirmed its commitment to continue working closely with DepEd, local government units, and other stakeholders to strengthen school safety initiatives nationwide through early intervention, community partnership, and responsive policing. These efforts reflect the organization's continuing commitment to Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, ensuring that every learner can study in a safe and secure environment.
