“Chicharabao (Carabao Chicharon)”
originated in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Originally a lowly, inexpensive street snack or pulutan (bar chow) for locals and farmers. It was transformed into a premium, packaged delicacy in 1998 by The Lighthouse Cooperative to generate local jobs and produce a uniquely Cagayan product. Made from carabao hide instead of pork, it offers a healthier, airier, and less fatty crunch.
