🚨 PUBLIC WEATHER ADVISORY: EXTREME HEAT INDEX ALERT
Date: May 27, 2026
Target Area: Santiago City, Isabela, and surrounding communities
Please be advised that the local heat index—the "feels like" temperature combining air temperature and high humidity—is expected to reach the Danger Category (42°C to 46°C) today.
At this level, prolonged outdoor exposure or physical activity significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and potentially fatal heat stroke.
⚠️ Critical Safety Guidelines
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Do not wait until you feel thirsty. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, or heavily sugared drinks, as they contribute to dehydration.
Limit Outdoor Activity: Avoid direct exposure to the sun, especially during peak heat hours from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If you must go outside, wear a wide-brimmed hat, use an umbrella, and apply sunscreen.
Dress Appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing to help your body cool itself efficiently.
Check on Vulnerable Individuals: Keep a close eye on children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Ensure your pets have access to plenty of fresh water and shaded areas.
Know the Warning Signs: Move to a cool or air-conditioned space immediately if you or someone else experiences dizziness, heavy sweating, a rapid pulse, nausea, or confusion.
🛑 EMERGENCY REMINDER: Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If someone loses consciousness, has an altered mental state, or stops sweating despite the intense heat, call local emergency services immediately and cool the victim down using wet cloths or ice packs while waiting for help.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe, Santiagueños!
