The silog craze came from the influence of the Spaniards way back centuries ago. The famous tapsilog (Tapa, sinangag, itlog) entered the Filipino tables from the well-known Spanish appetizer called "Tapas" - served with chunks of meat and liquor during those days.

Sisig anyone? This scrumptious delight made its debut back in 1732, thanks to Diego Bergaño, a Spanish missionary with a taste for Kapampangan flavors. He described sisig as a tangy salad with green papaya or guava, jazzed up with a zesty mix of salt, pepper, garlic, and vinegar. Believed to cure dizziness (and maybe a bit of a hangover!), this dish was a go-to remedy for the queasy and the party animals alike.
