We tried in BGC last night. I told the staff that it's our first time there and she gladly helped us on what they offer.

One can choose between rice bowl and a soup bowl. Of course since my sister and I came here to try the soup, we requested her to orient us.

TamJai Mixian has TamJai broth that is non-spicy, tomato broth, malatang, and Chongqing-inspired sour and spicy broth. We've had malatang a lot of time from another establishment so my sister and I tried what is unique to TamJai Mixian - she had the tomato broth and I had the Chongqing-inspired sour and spicy. The spice level is customizable but Chongqing-inspired broth is at the minimum level 3.

We got the ingredients. I was surprised that they offered trays as containers for the ingredients. Ang laki niya hahaha! In terms of variety, TamJia Mixian offers just adequate but when compared to the other famous malatang place - it's somewhat lacking. What I liked though was the ingredients were fresh! I couldn't even smell the raw meat and prawns which was a great thing ๐Ÿ™‚ So for my soup I got prawns, cheese balls, quail eggs, a lot of mushrooms, and few leaves of bokchoy. I had rice noodles to go with it instead of rice. I also ordered pickled cabbage, and iced lemon tea.

Tbh, I was wary of going because of the reviews on Google Maps. When I tasted the soup, I found it really tasty. The aroma took me to the streets of China so I knew the broth would be good. I also remembered the la mian that I had before that had pickled cabbage - it was salty, sour, and spicy. Hence I liked my order a lot. I just wished that there were more ingredients to choose from. I haven't been to Hongkong's branch so I wouldn't know if it's the same. The broth was comforting, tasty, and hot. I was happy that I didn't make it spicier. I didn't even need to put a lot of condiments too - so I didn't get some of the reviews about this ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Tomato broth was also good but may not be for everyone. It had that smoky flavor that I liked.

Considering the other establishments have more to offer at lower cost per 100g or 200g, TamJia Mixian is pricier. Will I go back? Maybe ๐Ÿ™‚

My sister and I had lunch at . It's been a while already since it opened. My sister had it before but it's my first time having a meal there ๐Ÿ™‚

Choices were traditional katsudon and their crispy Saiko original . I went for crispy and for the kind of pork, I went for hire SRF kurobota. I just added iced tea. Since I was really hungry, I also ordered spicy tuna sashimi. It was good but I found the crumbs a little overwhelming. The sauce was just right and I just had wasabi with it.

The set itself was hefty. The pork was succulent. I get it why my sister liked this more than the traditional. The bowl had sauce - but just enough to not make everything soggy. Each bite had a light crispiness to it. The sauce was also light, a taste of katsu sauce but not as heavy and thick in consistency. They said it's apple sauce.

Pork was done right, and the rice to ratio was good too. The egg was fluffy. The sauce on the rice was not too sweet and not overwhelming. Overall it was a great meal and might easily be categorized as one's comfort food. I might try the gyukatsu next time.

.to.come_phl I had a great time! Beef patty on rice served with radish and ponzu is absolutely one of my favorites in Japan. The patty on its own tastes great already. It tastes heavenly with condiments but I like it best on rice with raw egg, soy sauce flakes, garlic, and radish with ponzu sauce. Beef patty is usually served with demi glace but the meal I had in Odaiba last year changed it. I'm thrilled we have the same here in the Philippines. Thanks for bringing it here, and close to home too! ๐Ÿ™‚

The first thing that came to mind when I learned we'll go to Yokohama was tires ๐Ÿ˜…

We went to the Nissin Cup Noodle Museum where we joined the Chicken Ramen Factory activity. My husband and our youngest went to the playground and checked out the museum while we made instant ramen.

We made the dough, cut it into noodles, and seasoned it. We also designed the packaging. The personnel flash-fried the noodles. They also helped us pack the ramen too ๐Ÿ™‚ We also got to bring home freebies: UFO, and chicken ramen.

We had lunch at Yokohama Daishokudo, 5F Landmark Tower (the corporate tower). We got lost so we just went there ๐Ÿ˜‚ I had hamburg (again lol) but served in Japanese way - with grated radish and ponzu sauce. It was good and different. My husband has the Black Tower - it's hamburg also with pork belly and pork belly sauce. Our meals went with access to salad bar and soup which we had to get near the entrance. I liked the ingredients for the salad. There's soft tofu! ๐Ÿ˜ and everything's fresh and crisp. Our kids had the spaghetti with meatsauce. They liked it ๐Ÿ™‚

Since the restaurant is in the corporate tower, it was challenging for us to order and request our needs. I guess the staff didn't expect foreigners to dine there too. Overall, the food was filling. It was okay. I liked their way of serving hamburg though ๐Ÿ™‚ Usually it's just demi-glace.

April 2025 in Odaiba ๐Ÿ™‚

We had lunch at 1129 Ogawa. Our son had burger (not in photo), I had the hamburg in demi-glace, and my husband had steak. The tori karaage was for our youngest who liked chicken, always chicken.

I liked how a few of the restaurants that we've been to, would take care of kids. They would offer juice and automatically prepare cutlery to them - even without the kids' meal.

1129 Ogawa's specialty was hamburg and steaks. The locals usually order hamburg steak here with either the garlic or onion sauce. While demi-glace was good, I'll have garlic sauce next time ๐Ÿ™‚ It was good, and I wished I ordered another serving of rice ๐Ÿ˜

My husband had all the sauces with his steak. I think he got garlic, onion, and wasabi? Masarap lahat but he liked the onion sauce best. The beef could've been more tender but maybe it just cooked longer on the plate.

Our son enjoyed his burger which was juicy. He almost finished it! Super busog daw.

After that we strolled around and enjoyed the cherry blossoms and tulips in Diver City [last photo]. Of course we had our photos taken at the Gundam installment. Our kids couldn't relate though because it wasn't really during their time that Gundam became first popular.

--

Milk tea - Gongcha had almond milk specials there, of course melon too. Both okay but the latter too sweet to our liking. Maitawid lang ang milk tea craving because milk tea is life. Jk ๐Ÿ™‚

We saw Carl's Jr. in the food court. My husband and I remembered the charbroiled burgers and the epic onion rings. The last time I saw Carl's Jr. was college. There's one in Taft but I don't remember buying because my allowance couldn't afford ๐Ÿ˜…

Anyway, what's your favorite thing to do in Odaiba? ๐Ÿ™‚

Location: Tonkatsu Aoki Ginza 8-chome branch
ใจใ‚“ใ‹ใคๆช ้Š€ๅบง8ไธ็›ฎๅบ—

One of the best meals we had while in Ginza ๐Ÿ™‚ TBH, the best tonkatsu that we ever had! The fat was really good with katsu sauce, even better with mustard. The pork was big that we ordered another serving of rice (so, soooo goooood!).

The place is located at the basement. If you're going with friends, make sure that everyone will line up. They won't let you in and take orders unless your group is complete. We got there early and was able to get a table. Since the staff takes your order while you're in line, the serving time once you get inside is quick ๐Ÿ™‚

Do try this when you're staying in Ginza ๐Ÿ˜

We had breakfast with Mama and Papa (my husband's parents) at .restaurant last Sunday ๐Ÿ™‚ It was my family's first time there. The ambiance was nice - it's a restaurant with a modern cafรฉ feel to it.

Each of us ordered a plate. I ordered seafood, my husband ordered pares (it's one of their bestsellers), my son ordered corned beef hash. Mama and Papa shared daing na bangus, and goto (they'd love to have arroz caldo but it's unavailable). All of us shared the open-faced lumpiang gulay.

I enjoyed my seafood plate that had dried pusit, and dulong. My husband enjoyed the pares (me too!). The broth itself was sour but when mixed with the beef and rice, it hit the spot. My son liked the corned beef hash, I tasted it too. I couldn't name the brand they used ๐Ÿค” We liked the lumpiang gulay. It's plated fancy but the taste was good. All the vegetables were fresh. The vinegar was seasoned and went well with it.

The breakfast meals came with refillable coffee. It's a plus for those who'd like to have another cup or two.

Babalik ba kami kay Lola Ote? Maybe we'll try the bibingka pancake โค๏ธ We weren't able to try it because we ordered a lot and we're full ๐Ÿ™‚

My husband recently surprised me with a hefty serving of shake sashimi from ๐Ÿคญ

My memory of Sushi Nori was when it opened at W City Center in ๐Ÿค” maybe late 2017 or early 2018? It was after my long leave and when I went back to work my husband said he'll treat me a sashi-bowl ๐Ÿ™‚

I couldn't remember what I ordered then but knowing my husband, he'd order the bestseller for me. That branch already closed and we just had these at .

He chose the miso salmon bowl for me and we shared a tray of salmon sashimi ๐Ÿ˜ Nakakamiss. I enjoyed the meal a lot ๐Ÿ˜ Apart from salmon, I also liked wakame a lot, especially when it's well-seasoned.

Thank you for the meal! โค๏ธ Can't wait for have more of these very soon ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต

My sister told us about and I think she posted her review previously too.

There's more to its name. I thought the restaurant offers a variety of dishes with pork as the main ingredient. I was wrong ๐Ÿ˜

For starters we had chicharon bulaklak. I like chilak but I kind of like it better if it's thinly sliced. The tokwa't talong chips were good. The dip of soy sauce with vinegar was good with the tofu. The talong chips would have been great with aioli.

For the mains, I shared my bagnet ramen with my child. If you're like me who eats the ingredients separately, then the ramen is just okay. It's just your regular ramen. But the broth was light, and packed with umami (mushrooms?). The bagnet was it. To be followed by the egg! The egg was savory, unlike the usual aji tamago that most places offer. The shiitake mushrooms were also seasoned well.

My husband had the sisig with rice and wow two eggs. I think he enjoyed it but he was still hungry after.

My other child had he beef tapa. My husband and I had his leftover (na konti na lang talaga) and it's fork-tender, the taste was great. No need for vinegar at all. I'll have it next time, and bagnet too ๐Ÿ˜

I had a taste of my sister's grilled chicken. Ang sarap niya promise! It had a hint of citrus, combined that with spices akin to that of Vietnamese or Thai or maybe Indo grilled dish. It's my sister's comfort food and I wasn't surprised ๐Ÿ™‚

The place itself is good for big groups but one can also enjoy the food (and drinks) alone. If it's just near our place, I would've have gone there on my me time. I hope to eat there again and have pares ramen, and more ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you very much ! Thank you also for the great service last Monday! โค๏ธ

We spent the after-Christmas in Botolan, Zambales ๐Ÿ™‚ We were supposed to have lunch at The House of Basil but the owner and cook, Chef Leigh, was on a private chef service. She recommended a lot of restaurants that will be able to accommodate us. Among those, we tried at and it did not disappoint โค๏ธ

For starters we had Tokwa't Baboy, Tinapa Spring Roll and one of their bar chows, Baked Mussels. The Tokwa't Baboy was surprising for us because the pork was lightly breaded and deep-fried. It's already tasty on its own. We loved the soy chili sauce! We thought ulam na siya kulang na lang ang kanin! The Tinapa Spring Roll was good and we ordered another. It's really packed with tinapa goodness. They did it differently since theirs had cheese and it turned out well. The Baked Mussels was heavy on cheese. This one needed improvement as it lacked flavor. But it's nothing a hot sauce can't fix ๐Ÿ™‚

The Lumpiang Sariwa was simple yet elevated by the smoky flavor of the vegetables. The sauce was not too sweet and we loved that it's nutty. One order was two giant pieces of lumpia ๐Ÿ˜

Pancit Sotanghon was their bestseller. It's topped with chicken, shrimps, and vegetables. The noodles were chewy as expected from sotanghon. It's seasoned well, but some may find it salty so make sure to squeeze a bit of calamansi ๐Ÿ™‚

We had Beef Kare-kare, and Grilled Tuna Belly too. Ang bilis naubos ng kare-kare ๐Ÿ˜‚ If there's one thing to note, the tripe needed more time to cook. The beef was tender. The meat to vegetable ratio was good. The sauce was a-plenty ๐Ÿ™‚ We loved that it's not made with peanut butter.

Grilled tuna belly was fresh and tender! I asked my dad why was it in some restaurants in Metro Manila, tuna would turn out rubbery? He said it's not fresh and that the tuna could be in the freezer for quite a few days already. The one that we had was not gummy and was grilled ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป. Masarap siya ๐Ÿ™‚

The plain rice that we ordered could be improved but it was okay since we had kare-kare sauce naman ๐Ÿ˜‹

Not in the photos was Bikobumbong. Purple biko made different with coconut cream with salted eggโค๏ธ

Great ambience, service, and food! Thank you! โค๏ธ

I will bring home this beauty to my family โค๏ธ

This caramel cake has the right sweetness to it. I like that it has a hint of citrus that make you want to have another slice or two. It's a perfect sweet ending to a meal, or a snack even when you want ๐Ÿ˜
