ESSENTIAL SAUCE RECIPES 😊
(1) Hoisin Sauce
INGREDIENTS
* 4 tablespoons soy sauce
* 2 tablespoons peanut butter or white miso paste
* 1 tablespoon honey
* 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
* 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
* 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/4 teaspoon Chinese five spice
* 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce and peanut butter or white miso paste until smooth.
2. Stir in honey and rice vinegar. Mix until well combined.
3. Add toasted sesame oil, garlic powder, and Chinese five spice. Whisk to incorporate.
4. For a spicy kick, mix in sriracha or chili garlic sauce. Adjust sweetness or spice to taste.
5. Use immediately or store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 10 days.
(2) Yakisoba Sauce
Ingredients
* 1 tbsp oyster sauce
* 1 tbsp Japanese soy sauce (koikuchi shoyu)
* ½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce
* ½ tbsp sake or white wine
* 1 tsp tomato ketchup
* 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
* ½ tsp sugar
* ¼ tsp curry powder
* 1 pinch ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Add 1 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp Japanese soy sauce (koikuchi shoyu), ½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp tomato ketchup, ½ tbsp sake, ½ tsp sugar, 1 pinch ground black pepper¼ tsp curry powder, and 1 tsp toasted sesame oil to a small bowl and mix thoroughly.
2. Feel free to adjust ingredient quantities to suit your preference. Use to stir fry with noodles, vegetables and meat.
(3) Teriyaki Sauce
Ingredients
* ½ cup tamari Tamari
* 3 tablespoons brown sugar
* 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
* 2 teaspoons fresh garlic, minced
* ¼ cup honey
* 1 teaspoon sesame oil toasted or untoasted
* 3 tablespoons Mirin rice wine
* 3 teaspoons corn starch
* ¼ cup cold water (to mix with the corn starch)
Instructions
1. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, honey and sesame oil in a small saucepan, over medium heat, bring to a low simmer.
2. Mix cornstarch and ¼ cold water in a cup; stir until dissolved. Whisk into the teriyaki sauce and bring to simmer, stirring until thickened.
3. Store in airtight jar for up to 2 weeks in fridge, may be frozen up to 3 months.
(4) Spicy Honey Mustard Sauce
Ingredients
Sauce Base:
* 60 ml Dijon mustard
* 60 ml yellow mustard
* 60 ml honey
* 30 ml mayonnaise
Seasonings:
* 5–10 ml hot sauce (such as Tabasco or sriracha)
* 0.5 ml cayenne pepper (optional)
* 5 ml apple cider vinegar (optional)
* Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, honey, mayonnaise, hot sauce, optional cayenne, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
2. Taste the sauce and balance the flavors by adding additional honey for sweetness or more hot sauce for extra heat as preferred.
3. Cover and refrigerate for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
(5) Peanut Sauce
INGREDIENTS
* 1/2 cup natural creamy peanut butter
* 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
* 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or lime juice for extra zing)
* 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup or honeyadjust for sweetness
* 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil, optional
* 1 clove garlic, minced
* 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
* 1/4-1/2 teaspoon chili garlic sauce or sriracha to taste
* 3-5 tablespoons warm water to thin
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Use a whisk or fork and stir until the mixture looks smooth and glossy.
2. Pause and inhale that nutty aroma—it’s the best perk-me-up.
3. If you like it mild, stop at 1/4 teaspoon; if you crave heat, up it to 1/2 teaspoon or more.
4. One tablespoon at a time, until you hit your preferred consistency.

(6) Dumpling Sauce
Ingredients
* 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
* 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar
* 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Oil
* 1 teaspoon Chili Oil
* 2 pieces Scallions
* 1 clove Garlic Fresh
* 1/2 teaspoon Honey Optional
* Yuzu Kosho For Japanese version
Instructions
1. Mix the base ingredients in a medium mixing bowl: ¼ cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame oil. Whisk until smooth.
2. Add 1 teaspoon of chili oil to the mixture and stir well to evenly distribute the heat.
3. Finely chop 2 scallions and 1 clove of garlic, then add them to the bowl. Mix thoroughly.
4. Taste the sauce and add ½ teaspoon of honey or brown sugar if desired, mixing until dissolved.
5. Pour the sauce into small dipping bowls and enjoy with your dumplings.
