Unusual Breakfast at The HOB Kitchen 🍳🍗

We thought it was going to be one of those unusual breakfasts at The HOB Kitchen.

Our usual breakfast isn’t really eating together—it’s more like eating one after the other, whenever we can, while catching up with Kitchen preparations. 😅

But this morning, a familiar trike stopped in front of The HOB Kitchen.

It was one of the officers of LAMCA-TODA Ches 2, who orders from us every year for their annual inspection with the Municipal City Office.

This year’s order: 2pc Broasted Chicken and Beef Garlic Steak Meals. 🍗🥩🍳

What makes these moments special is not just the order, but the fact that it's the same customers continue to remember and support HOB year after year.🥰

Thank you, LAMCA-TODA Ches 2, for making HOB part of another yearly event. We truly appreciate your continued support. ❤️

For everyone who’s been asking… “Nasaan na ang Pancit Bato?” 🍜🥹

We’ve been getting messages from our regular customers asking why our Pancit Bato hasn’t been available for the past week.

Here’s what’s happening behind the kitchen.
The continuous Monsoon rains from the source have heavily affected the supply and price of fresh vegetables in our local market. Some of our main vegetables for Pancit Bato are now costing more than 3× their usual price.

And because we prepare our Pancit Bato with fresh vegetables, we simply can’t continue making it the same way without either compromising our ingredients or passing the extreme increase in cost to you.

We know many of you have been missing it — and honestly, we miss making it too. ❤️

We’ll keep watching the market and, hopefully, once prices and supply become more reasonable, Pancit Bato will be back in The HOB Kitchen.

Thank you to everyone who continues to ask, understand, and wait for it.

Your love for our Pancit Bato means more than you know. 🍜❤️

Rain Affects More Than Just the Weather.

As a family and small business owner, we see how continuous monsoon rain affects much more than our daily routines.

When agricultural lands are flooded, farmers lose crops and livelihood. Supply becomes limited, prices increase, and eventually every household and small business feels the impact. Even at The HOB Kitchen, this is one of the reasons why our Pancit Bato is temporarily unavailable.

Flooding and repeated class suspensions also disrupt the economy. Small businesses lose operating days, workers lose income, and families become more cautious with spending. Meanwhile, students and teachers face the pressure of catching up with lost school days. Alternative learning can help, but it cannot completely replace the effectiveness of regular face-to-face classes.

We understand that decision-makers have difficult choices to make during extreme weather. But this happens almost every year, and the effects seem to get heavier. We hope decisions and long-term solutions become more realistic, proactive and grounded in what communities actually experience.

And while recovery takes time, supporting small businesses matters. Every meal ordered, every local product purchased, and every small business supported helps keep someone employed, a family supported, and money circulating within the community.

When we support small businesses, we don't just help a business recover—we help rebuild livelihoods and contribute to the recovery of our local economy.

🌧️ WHEN IT RAINS, WE CRAVE THIS…

Some foods just seem to taste better when the weather turns gloomy.

For our family, rainy days often bring a craving for Tinutong, Tutong, or Ginataang Munggo. 🤎

Different names, depending on what you grew up calling it, but for us, it’s simply pan-roasted mung beans and sticky rice cooked in coconut milk and sugar, finished with creamy coconut cream.

And we have one very particular preference—the mung beans have to be roasted just right.

Not coarse. Not almost powderized.

We like them slightly broken or naturally split into two, so we can still enjoy their texture and that distinct roasted flavor with every spoonful.

Our way is simple:

🥥 Coconut milk brought to a gentle boil
🍚 Sticky rice and perfectly roasted mung beans added in
💧 A little water, depending on how thick we want it
🍯 Sugar, according to our preferred sweetness
🥥 And finally, coconut cream for that rich, creamy finish

Nothing complicated. Just something warm, sweet, creamy, and comforting to enjoy while the rain keeps falling outside. 🌧️

This is not available for sale at Kitchen HOB.

Just sharing a little food inspiration from our family kitchen—because even though we spend so much time preparing food for others, there are still those simple dishes we love making just for ourselves.❤️

Rainy days really do have a way of bringing out the cravings. 😋

🍳 IT’S OMU RICE MEAL DAY! 🍚

The Kitchen made more than usual today because we know how much our HOB Babies love this one! ❤️

Fresh eggs + our own in-house seasoning + the right cooking technique = that fluffy, flavorful HOB scrambled egg. 👨‍🍳

And of course, our Classic Gravy is also made specially in our kitchen—not instant gravy powder mixed with hot water.

Because at Kitchen HOB, everything is made special for HOB. From our seasonings and gravy to the way we prepare every component of your meal.
Simple ingredients. Proper cooking. ❤️

We thought today, Saturday, would be a little slower… a little more relaxed because it’s the weekend. 😅

Then 2.5 hours later, we had prepared:
🍱 25 Rice Meals
🍟 8 Snacks
🥤 9 Beverages

All delivered to Colegio De Amore, Jea Steel Industries Inc. and Krislizz International Academy Inc., while some were picked up straight from our Kitchen.

Everything prepared fresh, right here at The Kitchen HOB. ❤️

So yes, it turned out to be a busy Saturday after all—but one that deserves a big pat on the back...The Kitchen HOB Team. 👏🏻

When Classes Stop, Production Doesn’t.😊

Monsoon season has given us many days of class suspensions over the past two weeks. At The Kitchen HOB, we use those quieter days to focus on kitchen production in between the orders we receive from our community.

One of the challenges during Habagat is sourcing fresh raw materials. Good-quality saba bananas are not always readily available, so we sometimes source from both Indang and Trece City Public Markets just to find the quality we need.

And there’s something interesting about making Banana Fries that many people may not realize.

🔖The buying price is for the whole banana — but we only use the meat.

When processing saba for Banana Fries, more than 50% of the original weight can be lost after removing the peel, ends, bruised portions and other parts that cannot be used. That means the actual usable yield is much smaller than the weight we purchased.

On top of that, saba bananas have increased by around 25–30% on average during this season.

So when you see a bowl of freshly prepared Banana Fries, remember that it represents more than just a simple snack. Behind it are sourcing trips, quality checking, trimming, preparation, yield loss, and careful kitchen work.

This is one of the things we want to share here at The Kitchen HOB — a little more of what happens behind the food we prepare.

Because understanding food also means understanding where it comes from, how it is prepared, and what it takes to turn a raw ingredient into something ready to enjoy. 🧡

Sometimes, convenience is simply knowing that one less thing needs to be worried about. ❤️

For the past few weeks, this family would send us their son’s lunch orders every week. Then last week, we didn’t receive an order.

We thought, maybe they had other arrangements or managed to prepare lunch themselves. And that was completely fine with us.

But we later learned that, in the middle of their work, business, and studies, there was actually no one available to take care of their son’s lunch.

So we thought… Why not make it easier for them?

We asked about their preferred budget, and they willingly shared it with us. From there, we created a Monthly Lunch Meal Plan based on what worked for their family.

They reviewed it, approved it, and now it’s one less thing on their daily list.
They focus on work, business and studies.
We take care of their son’s lunch. ❤️

At The Kitchen HOB, we believe good food is not only about what we serve. Sometimes, it’s also about making life a little easier for the families we serve.

**********
