The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI successfully conducted a Sustainability Planning activity last June 11, 2026 in the Municipality of Tubungan, Iloilo as part of its continuing commitment to strengthen community resilience and ensure the long-term impact of development interventions.
During the activity, partner-beneficiaries were guided in assessing the overall implementation of their projects, including accomplishments, challenges encountered, gaps identified, and areas needing improvement. The process encouraged participants to analyze their experiences, identify practical solutions, and formulate strategies that will help sustain the gains of the program in their respective communities.
Discussions emphasized the importance of community ownership, active participation, and collaboration among stakeholders in ensuring the sustainability of project interventions. Participants also recognized the value of collective action and local leadership in maintaining project outcomes beyond the period of direct program support.
Under Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and Project BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished), 200 partner-beneficiaries strengthened their capabilities in developing and implementing sustainability measures for their PLAB initiatives.
Project LAWA at BINHI aims to help vulnerable communities adapt to the impacts of climate change by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, efficient water resource management, disaster preparedness, and community-based livelihood opportunities.
