Made to order P**o Bilao

📍P**o Bilao from Ma'am Christine Joy A. Duhaylungsod - Sacsac Bacong

We ordered P**o Bilao in the morning, and Ms. Christine immediately accommodated our request. She made sure everything was prepared and ready by the afternoon, which we truly appreciated.

This small business exceeded our expectations when it comes to traditional Filipino kakanin.

The **p**o** was moist and not too sweet, just right. The **kutsinta** was soft and chewy with that traditional kutsinta aftertaste, bringing back childhood memories. The **palitaw** tasted authentic and was coated with coconut and sugar. The **sapin-sapin** was also delicious, and all items had a generous amount of cheese toppings. We couldn't finish them all and had them for breakfast the next day and they still retained their taste and moistness.

Overall, the quality, taste, and presentation were excellent. Ms. Christine is responsive seller. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Filipino kakanin!

📍Hunting Ground located at Purok 1 Combado Bacong Negros Oriental

We’ve passed by Hunting Ground along the Bacong road countless times and we always noticed that only a few people dine there. Out of curiosity, we finally decided to stop by and we’re glad we did. The place is managed by a lovely couple: the husband is the chef, while the wife handles the counter and takes orders. At night, the ambiance becomes cozy and inviting, with billiard tables and darts adding to the relaxed, hangout vibe.

Since we were only in the mood for a light dinner, we ordered:

Beef Pares with Garlic Rice
Dinakdakan
Chicharong Bulaklak (Ginabot) — one of their specials

Beef Pares (Gem's First time)
Light yet flavorful! The beef is tender, and the broth is comforting without being too rich — perfect if you want something warm and refreshing. Gem definitely enjoyed this one (and me who loves soupy dishes. Reminiscent of Manila food street)

Dinakdakan
Hands down the best dinakdakan I’ve ever tasted. They use tender pork meat with fresh vegetables, giving the dish a clean, balanced flavor. Nothing is overpowering and the dinakdakan also has this refreshing salad-y taste.. A definite must-try.

Chicharong Bulaklak with Sukang Tuba
Crispy, crunchy, and perfect when paired with vinegar. Simple but satisfying.

What surprised us most? How affordable everything is. For the quality of food they serve, this place is an absolute steal. They definitely deserve more attention. We believe that boosting their social media presence could help them reach more customers.

Overall, Hunting Ground is a hidden gem in Bacong. Delicious food, friendly owners, a cozy atmosphere, and sulit prices. We’re really glad we finally gave it a try and we’ll surely be coming back!

📍RME Butcher's Meat located at Bong-Ao Bacong Valencia Road

*Update: We paired the spicy smoked chorizo with sourdough loaf and it was so good. The chewiness and sour earthy taste of sourdough perfectly compliments the umami, sour but also kind of sweet, salty, and garlicky taste of the smoked chorizo. A healthy, non-bloating meal for the night.*

I got to chat with Kuya Robert of RME Butcher this evening. I was asking about different pork and chicken cuts since his meat sells out so fast. He shared that he personally raises the pigs, and they come from Dauin, where there’s a steady supply of clean water.

Kuya Robert is incredibly friendly. He even showed me how he prepares and cuts the meat, and gave me a quick tour of his little shop.

Then to my surpise, he opened a pack of fresh smoked sausage and let me taste it. Uy FREE TASTE 😆.

And wow IT'S SO GOOD! I ended up buying some hehe. He really deserves to be posted.

I also got his permission to take photos and videos. He even asked me to take a photo of his shop so more people in Valencia would get to know his shop.

Pasensya na po at madilim na. He said na balik ako sa umaga to take photos of RME Butchers Meat shop.

Last order: October 27th
Repeat order: November 17th coz we enjoyed the Paprika fries and the beefy tasty burger so much. (We're BeefPH after all). We love the harmony the buns and burger filling have with each other here at Black Paprika. Nothing feels out of place with their ingredients.

Chicken Sesame Rice + Bacon — YUM. Flavorful and generous amount of chicken bites. Rice is moist not dry.

This time we ended up receiving a smaller serving size of Paprika fries versus our previous order. Still the taste remains true to what made us fall in love with it in the first place. The Truffle Burger had a very mild truffle flavor (love the pickles though, it really gave a refreshing and elevating zing to the burger), and the Classic Mushroom Melt only had a few mushrooms. Patties are moist, beefy, and the buns soft but firm in form. We will definitely order again via Grab or maybe if we feel spontaneous we will dine in soon.

Affordable sushi? But make it maki. We would have loved less ketchup/mayonnaise on ours as it would've enabled us to taste and savor the maki and give a clearer contrast of flavor for each one.

We loved the plain one better though we don't know what it's called since there was no name for each selection. We got 3 varieties and you can check the pics to see the difference they have from each other.

Overall we found the ketchup too overwhelming but for people who love to drizzle that on their maki, you will love MSE Sushi Bar.

Hmmmmmm Black Paprika Dumaguete. Masarap... ba? Stay tuned.

Everything was delicious and the price range was not too expensive. I love it when a resto lets the flavors speak for themselves. S. Bakery & Coffee is a comfy little corner in Valencia where you can cool off with their delicious halo-halo with finely crushed milky ice and generous toppings. To summarize it, lahat ng inorder namin ay masarap.
