It was around August 2020 when I decided to make munchkins at home because of boredom since it was pandemic that time and we are all at home doing nothing. Ilang trial and error din sa mixture and finding the perfect combination of raw materials. One thing about my munchkins, isang raw material lang ang ma iba or mabago, iba talaga nagiging lasa and texture niya. The first few days of perfecting my mixture, I still don't plan to sell it yet. Nasa isip ko "paano kung di bebenta?" "ang common naman kase ng munchkins baka it will be just like the rest tapos wala rin bibili". Surprisingly, naging reason din lahat ng doubts ko to make my munchkins different. Yung dapat distinct. Kakaiba. Yung makikilala as my own. And so it just happened.
Then eventually my friends pushed me to officially sell it. Honestly, mga kids talaga target market ko atfirst hence the powdered sugar coating kase mas gusto nila talaga kesa sa desiccated coconut. But little did you all know na secret menu pala all along yung desiccated coconut coating ko since I have two very special customers na yun palagi ang request sa akin. It wasn't the bite-sized one at first. If you had bought the original size I made with my munchkins then you are one of our ultimate OG muncheen lovers! Until eventually one of my deareast cousins asked me if I can make bite-sized munchkins for her son. Then it all started there.. September 2020 I officially launched my Luna Muncheens. What started from once a week delivery became twice, thrice, until it was sold out everyday. What started with one thousand pieces a day became two, three, until we reached eight thousand pieces! And my father being a businessman that he is, parang business-minded man na nakakita ng potential in something, mas lalo niya akong pinush with what I started.
During the first few weeks of selling, kame talaga ng daddy ko taga deliver ng orders. Alam yan ng mga suki ko! Trivia! Hahaha kaya naging Munch with Luna kase I was using my car Luna to deliver orders personally.. Kapag naka motor, daddy ko yun. Kapag si Luna, ako na yun. It was really my father who gets excited about my orders everyday. Sa kaniya rin galing yung term na "Muncheens". It's cute kaya ginamit ko na. Then a friend/suki suggested the name Luna Muncheens 🤍
I always get the compliment "perfect man talaga shape ng munckins mo" "perfect talaga pagka bilog" "ano molder gamit mo bakit perfect circle talaga tapos same2x ang laki" I'm OC, my father's OC. Imagine niyo na lang hahaha my Muncheens are handmade, btw. Wala akong molder to have that perfect round shape. All thanks to my youngest brother's hidden talent, I guess? Hahaha siya taga bilog ko ng munchkins eh 😂
From plastic na naka ribbon lang to sealed one.. then now resealable pouch na. From munchbox to different kinds of gift tub. Then now we have our very best-selling bucket! Through the years, I am very much grateful sa lahat ng pinagdaanan ng munting negosyo ko. As I have said, we all have our fair shares of struggles sa business. Pero ilalaban ko talaga ang Muncheens ko. Feeling ko isa 'to sa mga ayaw ng daddy ko na bitawan ko no matter what happens. I have already come this far with my Muncheens, itataya ko pangalan ko dito. Hahaha ni hindi ko nga akalain na makakaship pala ako to different cities dito sa Pinas. Tapos may bigla ng mag oorder dadalhin nila sa Saudi, Japan, Indonesia, Bangkok, Malaysia, Singapore. Ginagawang pasalubong sa mga OFW friends na naging stress-reliever narin nila sa work. Isa sa mga happiness nila while they are far from the comfort of their homes..
I also want to dedicate this post to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Who has been with me through the years. Lalo na sa mga Muncheen lovers ko na andyan pa rin until today. And ofcourse sa mga bagong Muncheen lovers ko rin dyan.. I love you all the same. And I appreciate you all so much. Wala ako dito ngayon with my Muncheens kung hindi dahil sa inyong lahat. Special appreciation sa mga suki kong mga doctors and nurses. Super duper dami niyo ah! I'm beyond grateful na Muncheens ko nagbibigay happiness sa inyo after all the pressure and stress to save people's lives. I appreciate all the compliments and criticisms. They helped me grow and glow for the past 6 years. Alhamdulillah!
And ofcourse, to my ever deareast OC father.. di mo man nakikita kung gaano ka layo na ang narating ng Muncheens natin ngayon, I'm sure that you are and will always be proud of me. Ilalaban ko 'to Mah hangga't kaya ko. I will not let our years of effort and hard work go to waste. Your MUNCHEENS will still grow. And I'm sure marami pa tayong ma-iinspire with our journey. Maybe, I already have nothing to prove sa narating ng Muncheens ko, but I know that I still have a lot of space to improve. Improvements in business world are endless. We just have to embrace our lapses as well. In shaa Allah!
