SMALLPAK Delegation Visits Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences for Future Collaboration

A delegation of the German-funded SMALLPAK Project visited Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CUVAS), Bahawalpur and met with the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tariq Javed, to discuss future research, academic partnerships, and collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening sustainable agriculture and livestock development in South Punjab.

The meeting was also attended by senior faculty members and officials of CUVAS, including Prof. Dr. Riaz Hussain (Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences), Prof. Dr. Faiz-ul-Hassan (Dean, Faculty of Animal Production and Technology), Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar (Dean, Faculty of Bio Sciences), and Dr. Muazzam Jalees (Principal Security Officer).

About SMALLPAK

SMALLPAK is a German-funded research project focused on documenting and strengthening indigenous innovative practices of smallholder farmers in South Punjab. The project aims to link local knowledge with scientific research to improve climate resilience, livestock productivity, and sustainable agriculture in the region.

During the meeting at CUVAS Bahawalpur, both sides discussed potential areas of collaboration aligned with SMALLPAK’s mission of promoting sustainable smallholder farming systems in Cholistan and surrounding areas. The discussions focused on strengthening research linkages, knowledge exchange, climate-smart livestock production, and community-based agricultural innovations that can contribute to the long-term resilience and prosperity of rural farming communities.

From Job Seekers to Job Creators

A Transformational Step at CHOLISTAN University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Bahawalpur

CHOLISTAN University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (CUVAS), Bahawalpur has taken a transformative step toward promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, reflecting the visionary leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mazhar Ayaz. The core objective of this vision is to develop graduates who are financially independent, confident, critical thinkers, and effective decision-makers—not merely job seekers, but job creators.

In line with this vision, the University successfully organized the Second Cholistan Entrepreneurial Expo 2026, which emerged as a vibrant hub of innovation and creativity. The Expo witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of five different universities, as well as numerous colleges, along with a large number of visitors from across the city who showed keen interest in student-led entrepreneurial initiatives.

The Expo featured more than 60 student-led stalls, showcasing innovative, practical, and market-oriented business ideas developed by young entrepreneurs. It provided a hands-on, experiential, and industry-linked platform, enabling students to move beyond traditional classroom learning and engage directly with real-world business environments, market dynamics, and practical challenges.

A significant number of participating students belonged to middle- and lower-income backgrounds, many of whom presented their business ideas on a professional platform for the first time. Despite this, students demonstrated remarkable confidence, clarity, and professionalism—reflecting their intellectual growth, creativity, and entrepreneurial potential.

The successful organization of the Second Cholistan Entrepreneurial Expo 2026 highlights that when universities—particularly CHOLISTAN University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences—go beyond conventional teaching models and provide vision, mentorship, and opportunity, students emerge not as job seekers, but as job creators.

The University administration extends heartfelt appreciation to all participating universities, colleges, student startup teams, visitors, and organizers for their dedication, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit. These young innovators truly represent the foundation of a prosperous, self-reliant, and forward-looking Pakistan.

Worthy Vice Chancellor, Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Bahawalpur , graced the Cholistan Youth Fiesta and Stage Saga, held at the Main Auditorium of CUVAS, with his esteemed presence. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of enthusiastic students from across the university.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Malaverto, Head of the Roots Revival Society, Dr. Abdul Khaliq, Dr. Qaswar Ali Shah (Director Student Affairs), Dr. Abdullah sagheer (Senior Tutor, CUVAS).
A major highlight of the event was the electrifying performance by renowned singer Ajmal Sajid, which added great energy and excitement to the celebration.
The presence of Dr. Faisal Siddique, Registrar CUVAS, And Other faculty members further added to the significance of the event.
The Cholistan Youth Fiesta and Stage Saga provided a dynamic platform for youth engagement, creativity, and cultural expression, reflecting the university’s dedication to fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus environment.
