The 7th Agriculture and Livestock Census reveals that 97 percent of farmers in Pakistan own less than 12.5 acres of land, with the average farm size dropping from 6.4 acres in 2010 to just 5.1 acres in 2024.

The census shows that just 16,958 landlords hold more than 100 acres each, accounting for 6.2 percent of total farmland, with an average of 215 acres per owner. Meanwhile, 61 percent of farmers now own less than 2.5 acres, up from 40 percent in 2010.

Those with less than one acre increased from 15 percent to 26 percent.
