AJWA–FCCU Sign MoU to Strengthen WASH Research & Academic Collaboration

The Al-Jazari Water & Sanitation Academy (AJWA) and Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) – FCCU have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research, capacity building, knowledge exchange, innovation, and academic engagement in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector.

The MoU signing ceremony was graced by Mr. Tayyab Farid, Director General P-WASA, and the MoU was formally signed by Dr. Jonathan Addleton, Rector, FCCU, and Dr. Souman Khalid, Principal, AJWA.

The partnership marks an important step towards strengthening academia–sector collaboration and creating opportunities for joint research, student and faculty engagement, applied research, and innovative solutions to Pakistan’s emerging water and sanitation challenges.

Al-Jazari Water & Sanitation Academy (AJWA) proudly celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with patriotic spirit and national pride. The celebrations featured a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Principal Dr. Souman Khalid and Vice Principal Hafiz Ozair Ahmad, symbolizing national unity, hope, and our shared commitment to Pakistan’s progress. The celebrations also included a cake-cutting ceremony, adding to the spirit of joy and togetherness, along with the AJWA faculty.

The celebrations were followed by a plantation drive, with Mr. Sohail Qadir Cheema, ADG (Operations), Punjab WASA, joining the plantation activity. The initiative reflected AJWA’s commitment to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future. On this special day, we pay tribute to the sacrifices of our forefathers and the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who have devoted their lives to the sovereignty and security of Pakistan. May Pakistan continue to prosper, flourish, and shine.

AJWA–PTUT Sign MoU to Strengthen WASH Research, Capacity Building & Conference Collaboration

The Al-Jazari Water & Sanitation Academy (AJWA) and Punjab Tianjin University of Technology (PTUT), Lahore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research, innovation, capacity building, knowledge exchange, and joint engagement, while fostering stronger academia–water sector linkages.

The signing ceremony was graced by Mr. Tayyab Farid, Director General P-WASA, and attended by Dr. Souman Khalid, Principal AJWA, Hafiz Ozair Ahmad, Vice Principal AJWA, and AJWA faculty members. From PTUT, Prof. Dr. Adeel Akram, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Usman Rashid, Dean Faculty of Architectural & Civil Engineering Technology, and Dr. Nijah Akram, Head, Department of Architectural Engineering Technology, participated in the ceremony.

An engaging meeting followed the MoU signing, during which the PTUT delegation expressed keen interest in collaborating with AJWA, particularly in research initiatives, technical capacity building and active participation in joint programs. The partnership marks an important step towards bringing academia, technology, and the water and sanitation sector together to advance innovative and climate-resilient solutions.

Consultative Session on Training Calendar 2026–27

Al-Jazari Water & Sanitation Academy (AJWA) hosted a consultative session to review and finalize the upcoming training calendar for FY 2026–27, chaired by Dr. Souman Khalid, Principal AJWA. Hafiz Ozair Ahmad, Vice Principal and AJWA faculty attended the meeting. Representatives from HUD & PHED, Punjab WASA and water & sanitation agencies participated online.

The proposed calendar features capacity-building courses covering climate-resilient WASH, water supply and sewer network design, O&M, project planning and management, GIS & SCADA, NRW reduction, energy efficiency, water and wastewater management, occupational safety, and urban flood resilience, among other key areas. Valuable inputs from participating organizations were received to further align the courses with their practical training needs and sectoral priorities.

Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Water Management.

We are pleased to welcome the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Pakistan Resident Mission team, led by the Country Director of ADB, to AJWA on Monday, 10 August 2026.

The visit provided an important platform to discuss the avenues and potential areas of collaboration with ADB. AJWA shared its key institutional and operational priorities.

The dialogue also explored future opportunities, focusing on strengthening service delivery and identifying investment priorities to enhance institutional capacity.

We look forward to a productive engagement and continued partnership towards sustainable and resilient water sector in Punjab.
