𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐩 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝 (𝐣𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝) 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐅𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭
Occasionally, mango fruits that appear visually appealing and of good size may develop extremely soft and juicy pulp near the stone called 𝐣𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝. This condition arises due to the softening and sponginess of the pulp-forming tissues. The issue typically initiates near the stone and spreads outward toward the peel. In severe cases, the entire pulp becomes excessively soft and mushy, resembling bacterial rot.
Calcium is a critical structural component of the fruit, and its deficiency exacerbates the severity of this disorder. 𝐈𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬
The problem intensifies if, during the fruit development stage:
𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 during fruit development due to external factors (e.g., high temperatures leading to low fruit set followed by prolonged rainfall).
𝐍𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧-𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐬 are applied during the fruit growth phase, promoting vegetative growth instead of proper fruit maturation.
