Steaming Method: Steaming baby foods better preserves nutrients, unlike boiling. When steaming, the heat of the steam cooks the fruits/veggies until they are no longer raw, while they remain bright and crisp.
Steamed baby foods aren’t just more nutritious than those that have been boiled, but they taste better because they retain flavor and color.
Boiling Method: Boiling is a relatively quick and easy way to cook baby food. However, during boiling, many nutrients leave the fruits/veggies and fall into the cooking liquid, which is most often thrown away. The longer fruits/veggies are boiled, the more nutrients escape. Thus, boiling will result in fruits/veggies with diminished nutrients in comparison to the steaming method.
