Last week marked our third visit to Authentic Restaurant to celebrate their second anniversary, and it’s been amazing to see how the restaurant has grown while maintaining the same high standards that impressed us from day one.

There’s many reasons why Authentic has become one of the Algarve’s standout dining destinations, and after recently earning a Michelin Guide recommendation for 2026, it’s clear that others are recognising what other guests have clocked a while back. The combination of good food, hospitality, and a relaxed yet very fancy atmosphere makes every visit feel special.

Our meal was beautifully executed from start to finish, with each dish showcasing quality ingredients and attention to detail without ever being overcomplicated. The service was attentive and genuinely welcoming, creating an experience that felt both professional and personal, which is never easy at an event for 100+ people.

A well-deserved congratulations to Ricardo Luz and the entire team on celebrating two successful years, and on yet another wonderful event. We’re already looking forward to visit number four.

Last week we were hosted at .bar in Portimão where we were looked after by , who was an absolute gem from start to finish – friendly, attentive and just one of those people who makes your experience that little bit better 🥰

What we really liked about Rolling Grill is that it’s the kind of place you can take absolutely anyone. Fancy sushi? Sorted. Craving a steak? No problem. Want a proper burger? They’ve got that covered too. It’s a real crowd-pleaser of a menu, which makes it ideal for birthdays, team dinners or those nights when nobody in the group can decide what they want to eat.

Speaking of burgers... wow. Hands down our favourite thing we tried. The kind of burger that has you thinking about it the next day. In fact, if I’m being completely honest, on a hangover day I’d happily make a special trip just for that burger. 😂😇

The food felt fresh, the portions were generous and the prices were more than fair. Nothing felt pretentious – just good food, made with care, served by lovely people.

If you’re looking for somewhere relaxed, good value and guaranteed to keep everyone at the table happy, this place is definitely worth a visit. We’ll be back... mainly because we’re already craving that burger again. 🍔❤️

If we could give this place a double favourite badge, we absolutely would.

Yakuza is genuinely one of our top five favourite restaurants in the Algarve and has been for years. In fact, we make a point of treating ourselves to at least one visit every year (sometimes two!), and every single time it feels just as special as the first.

Now, is it the most authentic Japanese dining experience you'll ever have? Probably not. But honestly, that's not why we love it. What Yakuza does, it does exceptionally well.

Every year we arrive with the best intentions of trying something new from the menu, and every year we end up ordering exactly the same favourites because we're completely obsessed with them. The sushi is simply outstanding – incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavour combinations that we've genuinely struggled to find anywhere else.

And then there's the truffle pasta and Wagyu. Oh. My. God. If you've had them, you'll understand. If you haven't, prepare yourself. They are quite simply to die for and the reason we keep coming back year after year. We always follow with the Kit Kat dessert…and arghhhhhhhh…! My. God. 🤩🤩🤩

The setting is gorgeous too, tucked away within the beautiful Pine Cliffs Resort, which instantly makes the whole experience feel a little bit special. The service is always warm, friendly and attentive, with staff who genuinely can't do enough for you.

Yes, it's expensive. This is definitely a treat-yourself kind of restaurant. But it's unapologetically boujee, and sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for.

Add in some fantastic cocktails and a really good wine list, and you've got all the ingredients for a memorable night out.

We absolutely love this place. It's one of those restaurants that never disappoints and remains firmly on our annual Algarve must-visit list. ♥️

Yesterday we were lucky enough to attend the loveliest private dinner at a friend’s villa, and WOW… what a day 😍

We had actually recommended after months of missing her restaurant food (which we are STILL not over by the way 😭). We did ask if she had any plans to reopen another restaurant… but sadly not 💔 HOWEVER… she now works as a private chef and honestly, this might even be better.

There is just something so special about having restaurant-quality food cooked for you in the comfort of a home, surrounded by friends, relaxed, no noise, no rushing, just incredible food and good vibes all day long.

And the food… my god 😮‍💨 We ate WAY too much but zero regrets. The standout for us was the Sautéed Prawns with Kaffir & Coconut Rice, Chilli & Coriander. Honestly one of those dishes you keep thinking about afterwards. The prawns were unbelievably fresh and cooked perfectly, the rice was soft and fluffy, the sweet mango with the fresh chopped red chilli on top just worked SO well together… absolutely unreal.

Not only is she insanely talented, but she’s also just such a lovely person to have around. Fun, warm, easygoing, one of those people with genuinely contagious good energy that makes the whole experience even better.

Could not recommend her more, honestly. Such a different and really special way to enjoy amazing food ❤️

There are certain restaurants that never lose their magic, and for us, returning to is always one of those truly special experiences. Any excuse to visit, honestly — it’s a real treat every single time.

Set within the stunning and led by the incredibly talented , this two Michelin-starred restaurant continues to deliver one of the finest dining experiences in Portugal. The service is completely seamless — polished, attentive and highly professional — yet still warm and genuinely friendly.

One piece of advice: arrive before sunset. The panoramic sea views are absolutely breathtaking and add so much to the overall experience.

This year’s menu celebrates Portugal, with a different theme explored each year, which keeps every visit exciting and unique. Every course arrives beautifully presented on stunning handcrafted plates, with incredible attention to detail throughout. Quite frankly, the entire menu was wonderful.

If we had to choose a favourite, the Teardrop Peas dish was extraordinary - Sole, Pata Negra, Iberian Ham and giant Azorean Squid — it was simply amazing. The only dish that didn’t quite wow us personally was the Francesinha interpretation, although it was still creatively executed and beautifully presented.

Ocean remains one of those rare restaurants where the full experience — the setting, the service, the creativity and the atmosphere — comes together perfectly. A truly world-class dining destination in the Algarve, and somewhere we will continue returning to whenever we can. Sadly the photos really don’t do it justice.

We were recently invited back to .restaurante and we’re growing more and more fond of this place every time we visit.

Beautiful views, really friendly service, and really great Portuguese food done properly.
Our latest favourites? The codfish salad, the grilled skewer, and surprisingly the secretos de porco. Usually such a rich, fatty dish, but their version paired with buttery rice and beans creates the perfect balance! 👌🏻

We love this place. Just make sure to book ahead… it gets very busy, as we witnessed yesterday 👀

Everyone loves a beach club…🤩🌊☀️

Especially a good one…

We went back to .beachclub for a relaxed lunch recently and ended up staying way longer than planned (as usual)— front row seats by the sea, feet literally in the sand, and that easy vibe you don’t want to rush.

It does get busy (for good reason), but the service keeps things moving and stays friendly throughout. Definitely one to book ahead or get there early if you can.

The menu is exactly what you’d expect — all the beach club classics, done nicely and at a price that is actually acceptable for the location. Nothing overcomplicated, just good food and great cocktails! 🍹

Our current favorite has got to be the Shrimp Gyozas — simple and tasty, and the kind of thing you end up ordering twice without even meaning to (woops!)

If you’re heading to Faro Beach, this is one of those easy, go-to places you can rely on. No stress, great views, and consistently good all round.

We finally popped into to check out this year’s novelties — and honestly, we left pretty chuffed. It’s always a good sign when a place keeps all your favourites and manages to surprise you with something new.

This time, two standout additions stole the show: the Cadiz Chicharrones and the Chef’s Leek. We’re not exaggerating when we say we could’ve happily just sat there all evening eating those two dishes on repeat — light, packed with flavour, and seriously moreish.

We kicked things off with our long-time favourite: the fresh, tangy Orange and Ham Salad alongside the Hummus (still as good as ever), then moved on to a little Lasagneta to round off the mains. And of course, no visit would be complete without their Basque cheesecake… yummyyyyy!

Service, as always, was relaxed and superrrr friendly — it really feels more like dining at old friends’ house than a restaurant… except these friends wait on you hand and foot (and keep the great wines flowing).

All in all, a lovely evening and, without question, Le Crô now earns a firm “favourite” badge from us. Such a great spot in Carvoeiro.

We recently got hosted at and honestly… yay, this is another great one 🤍

The Chef is from Madeira, so you really feel those strong influences throughout the menu. Of course, we had to try the Espetada Madeirense — and wow. Super tender, juicy meat, full of flavour, and served with amazing sides like the traditional Deep Fried Corn and Bolo do Caco. Proper comfort food.

One of the biggest surprises for us was the Grilled Cheese. Not something we would usually order, but we’re SO glad we tried it — definitely something we’d go back for again.

And then… the Basque cheesecake. My god. Absolutely standout. So creamy and just ridiculously good.

To finish, we cheekily asked for a traditional Madeira Punch and they nailed it. Took us straight back to Madeira — just like the food did.

Service is relaxed and friendly, very much that typical Portuguese restaurant vibe we love.

We’ll 100% be back next time we’re in Faro. Well worth a visit ✨

We were recently hosted at Taberna da Lúcia, and had a really great experience from start to finish in all honesty. We were treated to a special adapted tasting so we could try as many dishes as possible — so yes, the portions you’ll see here are smaller than the regular servings, but trust us, the flavour was anything but small.

The food was absolutely delicious. Simple ingredients, incredibly fresh, and cooked with so much care, using old family recipes. Everything is cooked from scratch. Nothing overcomplicated, just honest, wholesome flavours done really well. And the prawns… wow. Possibly the most perfectly cooked prawns we’ve ever eaten. Tender, juicy, pretty much flawless... 🦐✨

They also have a really cool and expansive wine list with LOTS of great options.

Chef Lúcia herself is just lovely - warm and welcoming, which makes the whole experience feel even more special.

If you’re looking for something different and genuinely romantic for Valentine’s Day this would be a great suggestion. They’ll be offering a special menu for €45 or €60 with wine pairing (amazing value), and a local poet will join the evening, reciting romantic poetry and even creating personalised love verses for each couple. A really sweet touch 🙂
