Last Friday we decided to pop into Brunch & Wine by Tapas no Bucho in Lagoa with some friends. We had visited once before but right in the beginning when they opened a fair few years ago, and for one reason or another hadn’t made it back since, and oohhhh we’ve been missing a treat. This is a family run business so service is chilled but super friendly. The food is reallyyyyy good. Perfect for a small group who want to share lots of different dishes between them. There were four of us on this occasion, and we definitely over ordered. We were so stuffed when we’d finished that we didn’t actually eat again until lunch time the next day! But oh my god was it worth it! They also have a great wine selection!

All in all a great little place, definitely worth a visit next time you’re in Lagoa!

Last week we were hosted at The House of Stews | A Casa dos Estufados in Albufeira. The temperatures had been quite cool that week and we were very excited for the excuse to have some heavier heartfelt food 😃😇 and uhhhh what a treat!!!

First the location is just fab - plenty of parking and although it’s in the centre of Albufeira, it’s actually a really quiet (and rather romantic!) setting. They had a fantastic live music duo on, and being sat on that terrace under the bougainvillea, made for quite a wonderful evening!

We were treated to a delicious cocktail to start, with the premium couvert (really yummy!), two scrummy starters and then two stews - corrrr were they good! Something genuinely different that you can’t get in many other places! The desserts were also delicious, ESPECIALLY the Pastel de Nata Tart….Oh. My. God!!!! This was to die for!

They are open all year round and even had live Fado on some nights too! They also have maby other options on the menu besides stews. This is for sure set to be one of our new favorites, especially in the winter months! ♥️

The hosts are also absolutely lovely too, FYI!

Last Friday we got hosted for a great lunch at Porta 14 . Don’t be fooled by the location - this is in fact the perfect little pit stop! It’s a recently opened family run business (and oh they’re sooo lovely! 🥰), it’s superrrr clean, has lots of readily available parking (what a win at this time of year!), and serves cracking food! By the time we were done with the starters, we’d already nicknamed the Chef “The King of Seasoning”. Every dish was literally seasoned to perfection. Both the Octopus Salad and the Sautéed Shrimp were to die for - salty, peppery, spicy, fresh and bursting with flavour - soooo good! They definitely stole the show for us! They also do a selection of daily specials, and the price of everything seemed very fair. One we’ll definitely return to!

I’m not sure Restaurante O CICLO can qualify as a local classic for everyone but it sure does for us. We’ve been going to this restaurant since we were ten years old - back when the Lagoa secondary school was on the same street, hence the name “O Ciclo”. The restaurant has (impressively!) been there since 1984! 🙈😃

It’s a place that truly represents “you get what you pay for”. Everything is fairly reasonably priced but the quality is high. It’s not the most glamorous of locations but you will be guaranteed really good food for a reasonable sum. The menu is varied and focuses mainly on Portuguese dishes. Personally we are yet to have a disappointing experience here in all the years we’ve been going. The Razor Clam Rice and Red Mullet are two of our favorite Portuguese dishes and this is definitely our go-to for both!

📍Location: Festival do Marisco, Olhão

Andddd it’s back!!! One of our favourite anual food festivals - Festival do Marisco returned yesterday to Olhão for its 38th edition, so we had to make a point of dropping by last night to try some of what they had to offer!

The festivals main highlight is obviously the seafood - lobsters, oysters, cockles, clams, most of the seafood you can think of is available in an extremely fresh format and prepared right in front of you! There are also burgers, bifanas, and a few other options, along with some stalls that also serve sweet treats (make sure to check out the mini pancakes!)

The venue opens at 19:30 and tickets are priced between €12 and €15. We recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds, as it gets very busy later on, closer to when the live music starts. Every night features different artists, most of which are very well known.

Not only is the food great, we feel this is one of those events that really represents the Portuguese culture in all the best possible ways, and we can’t get enough of it! 🪼

It’s on until next Saturday so make sure you pop by! 🫶🏻

Last Saturday we got hosted for something a little different at the lovely Quinta do Sol . Obviously there was food, but this particular experience actually kicked off with a pilates class. The recently opened winery now offers this great combination of light exercise, brunch and of course, wine!

The class was really great, very relaxing and something a little different - way better to be spending time outdoors than staring at the four walls of a gym, and brunch was a super cool spread of fresh and tasty food - cold salads, but not your usual go-to’s, they were all a selection that we’d never tasted before, all really fresh and healthy! Our favorites were the Orange Salad and the Courgette Salad. There was quiche, fresh fruits, croissants, fresh bread, and much more - and it was all absolutely DELICIOUS! We then got to try a couple of the wines they’re producing, which went down veryyyy well Everything was really chilled and relaxing and we felt like it was a great experience that we gladly recommend!

We can’t wait to sample more of what they have to come!!! 🥂🫶🏻

As you know, we are hosted in numerous places throughout the Algarve, but we have to admit, not quite as HOSTED as we were last week at Malimo Pizzeria in Albufeira. My god did they take care of us 🙂

It’s somewhere we would not have stumbled on ourselves, mainly because we don’t visit Albufeira that often, but definitely one we would revisit! The service was really delightful and they couldn’t do enough for us! The concept is a fusion of Italian and Nepalese food, and although we opted to order Italian dishes, the Nepalese Mustang Alo dish they brought over for us to try anyway was really good. Like seriously good! We thought the Garlic Shrimps to start were great value - for that price you usually get served four (if you’re lucky!). The Sparkling Wine Sangria went down particularly well - absolutely delicious! The pizzas are all made from homemade dough, so the base is very light and crispy, topped with fresh tasty ingredients! The Lemon Sorbet was also the perfect finish to what was all in all a great meal!

We can’t wait to go back to try some more of the Nepalese dishes! If you’re in the area, they’re definitely worth a visit!

Last Saturday we were invited to try out Sugar Rabbit Kaffé in Albufeira, and if we’re being completely honest, we’re usually the first to roll our eyes when somewhere describes itself as vegan or vegetarian... 😅🙈

But wow, this place really surprised us!!!

It’s actually a pretty rare concept for the Algarve – a fully vegan, gluten-free café – and before we’d even sat down, we realised we already knew them through their amazing side business, Água na Boca Bakery - Cakes & Party Design cupcakes, which we’re huge fans of. Such a nice surprise!

The café itself is absolutely adorable, and while the dishes looked beautifully light and colourful, they were also seriously filling!

What stood out most was the amount of care that goes into everything. Nothing felt thrown together for the sake of being “healthy”. Every plate was packed with fresh, crisp ingredients, loads of colour, and you could genuinely see the effort that’s gone into creating each dish. And most importantly... it was delicious!

Definitely one we’ll be returning to. 💚

Last Sunday we were kindly hosted once again at Catch.Vilamoura , but this time to try their brunch offering – and we have to say, it’s a really lovely little concept and great value for money.

The atmosphere was great, with a live saxophonist creating the perfect laid-back Sunday vibe. The food was every bit as good as we remembered from our last visit, with beautifully presented dishes and plenty of flavour throughout.

This time we also got to sample some of the cocktails, which were reallyyyyy delicious and definitely worth trying if you’re visiting.

One thing that stood out even more this visit is just how family-friendly Catch is. It has the most enormous bouncy castle we’ve ever seen! It’s the ideal setup for families, as parents can actually sit back, enjoy their food and drinks, while the kids are happily entertained. We can also see it being a brilliant venue for children’s birthday parties.

They’ve recently introduced different themed nights too, which is a nice addition and gives people another reason to return.

And before we finish, a special mention has to go to the crème brûlée, which was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to end the meal.

A great little find in Vilamoura that’s doing a lot of things right. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a relaxed brunch spot with something for everyone.

Last week marked our third visit to Authentic Restaurant to celebrate their second anniversary, and it’s been amazing to see how the restaurant has grown while maintaining the same high standards that impressed us from day one.

There’s many reasons why Authentic has become one of the Algarve’s standout dining destinations, and after recently earning a Michelin Guide recommendation for 2026, it’s clear that others are recognising what other guests have clocked a while back. The combination of good food, hospitality, and a relaxed yet very fancy atmosphere makes every visit feel special.

Our meal was beautifully executed from start to finish, with each dish showcasing quality ingredients and attention to detail without ever being overcomplicated. The service was attentive and genuinely welcoming, creating an experience that felt both professional and personal, which is never easy at an event for 100+ people.

A well-deserved congratulations to Ricardo Luz and the entire team on celebrating two successful years, and on yet another wonderful event. We’re already looking forward to visit number four.
