Passeite, Portuguese olive oil from Central Portugal. Available for farmtours and olive oil tastings In 2005 the Passeite grove started to produce olives.

Passeite is a word blend from “Azeite da familia Passos” we used within the family when we started making olive oil. With the opening of an olive oil themed tavern in Coimbra, Passeite got more meaningful as Coimbra is the “passing by” city on your way from Porto to Lisbon or vice versa. Unfortunately the tavern has closed during and after pandemic as it seemed impossible to manage both anymore. T

he area and climate is ideal for keeping olive trees. Coimbra area is one of the oldest olive oil producing areas and was already producing back in the Roman period. Conímbriga is one of the largest and best preserved Roman settlements in Portugal. Conímbriga lies a little walk from our farm.From 2015 onwards the hobby turned into a business. The love of the hobby was strong enough for Marije & Gui to move to the farm and give up careers in the Netherlands to pursue making high quality olive oil and teaching all about it. We have more ancients groves and expanded the businessas well to other parts in Portugal. We strongly believe in sharing our love for food and nature so please feel welcome for a tour and tasting and learn more about Condeixa area.

We always find a way to get through the toughest challenges. Fires, Floods and storms couldn't break us but it feels today we reached breaking point. Rules and Regulations amongst shipping in European countries changed in a way that we can no longer supply our beautiful produce to some of our longest and most loyal clients. And this for a company who always has nature, sustainability and less waste at heart.

We have put the online ordering on hold for some countries until we figure out what would be the best solutions for the future.

Please reach out and give feedback at the EU site as they have to change this for better. Recycling and circular solutions we totally support but not by punishing the people and businesses who are not the main problem of this in the first place.

It's a wrap. Wonderful days with these two groups of Belgium scouts. Each year we welcome a group to do those tasks Gui and I cannot do on our own and are of great importance to the village.: clearing the rivers and river banks. But also filling holes due to erosion of the floods. The village showed their gratitude as well.
And as a thanks we of course offer a Portuguese night with olive oil tasting and delicious food. If you are interested in coming with your group next summer, be quick as the first request is first served. Best is contact via in Portugal

Dreaming of a white summer? Yes it's time for some preventive crop protection and that is Kaolin..Now the olive fly population is still quite low but they have been showing themselves so it's better safe than sorry. All in the game for some extra virgin.... And happy as we finally can spray again as all this equipment was severely damaged under the debris of the barn. Small steps forward.

Long truck on very narrow road. After drawing, engineering calculations, bureaucracy on legal rebuilds and more we finally get to start building back a barn. It might seem long but end of January feels like yesterday. And we haven't stood still: saving trees with hard pruning, lambing season. cutting the fallen down trees, fire prevention maintenance, continuing the olive tourism, getting back a vegetable garden, new challenges on top.of the regular days of being a farmer. Slowly but steadily we will get back on track.

Passeite food pairings are one of a kind.. Marije is not a trained chef, but a creative olive oil sommelier and cook. We work with the seasons local food, focussed on the main star : olive oil. Starter, main and dessert included. Bring a good mood and an empty stomach..Bom appetite!
